Dessica Nauthes
The Desert Lords, in their infinite folly, built their sandstone castle in the mountain pass. The town below withered and waned for a century beneath their rule until the gods answered their prayers and cast the Lords and their stone a-tumbling down the mountainside!-- Excerpt from the Tale of Epkakir
The castle of the cryptic Desert Lords, sorcerers who came from the northern peninsula and claimed dominion over the entire Marziene Desert. It was built near entirely out of slave labor from Dessica and took a decade to finish given its precarious position in the mountains and the Lords' demands that it be cast from Mobria Sandstone only found deep beneath the central desert. The trails to these quarries run deep and have become the desert roads connecting Barerose and other townships.
Completed in 1093, the Lords occupied it for nearly a century before the Umbert Saissa rallied the people against their tyrannical rulers in 1188. Through a combination of prayer, ingenuity, and dogged will, Dessica Nauthes was brought down the mountainside and the Lords disappeared from Dessica soon after. To this day, scavengers discover valuables, scrolls, and secret rooms within the sand-weathered ruins now aptly named Tyrants' End.
