Komos, God of Abstinence

Steward of the Deities of Corruption, whose influence threatens society from within, Komos is forced into punitive abstinence from all forms of pleasure or entertainment. Priests of Komos function as therapists and care workers for people who have been consumed by the corruption of one of the deities that Komos is meant to contain. These clerics make a point of reaching out to those who are struggling with the vices of society and work to help them return to living balanced, honorable lives. Souls that struggle with the corruption in their soul their whole life, but never master it, are sent upon death to join Komos in his role as Warden of the Corrupt.   Komos' most important duty as a god is to keep the seven deities under him chained and punished for their corruption. Whenever one of these gods escapes him, they unleash their particular brand of evil upon New Atlantis; and Komos, as well as the souls who aid him, are punished by Chiron for their failure. These escapes happen infrequently, but are usually by the design of Chiron or, more rarely, Loki. Loki sees the chaos wrought by the punished deities when they are freed to be amusing, while Chiron sees their moments of freedom as a way to test mortals for those who deserve his punishment but would otherwise escape it.
