Appearance

Willow Thornberry stands at a typical halfling height of just over three feet, but carries herself with such purposeful confidence that she often seems to occupy more space than her small frame suggests. Her round face is framed by wavy chestnut hair that she typically wears in a practical braid wrapped around her head like a crown, adorned with small wooden pins carved with herbalist symbols. Her eyes are a warm amber color that seems to shift in different lights sometimes appearing more golden when she's excited about a new potion recipe, sometimes deepening to honey-brown when she's focused on her work. Laugh lines crease the corners of her eyes and mouth, evidence of her ready smile and good humor.

Her hands are her most distinctive feature small but strong, with short, nimble fingers perpetually stained with plant dyes in various shades of green and purple. The skin on her palms is slightly toughened from years of crushing herbs and stirring potions, but she maintains remarkably steady hands even when working with the most delicate ingredients. She typically wears several thin silver rings set with small gemstones that dwarven craftsmen have gifted her over the years, each said to enhance different aspects of the healing arts.

Willow dresses in practical clothing adapted for her work usually layered skirts and blouses in earth tones with numerous pockets sewn throughout to hold her collection of small tools, ingredient pouches, and sample vials. Over these, she wears a well-worn leather apron that reaches nearly to her ankles, with countless tiny compartments specifically designed to hold her potion making implements. Around her neck hangs a silver pendant containing a magnifying lens that she uses to inspect ingredients, and she typically has a pair of specially crafted dwarven spectacles perched on top of her head, ready to be pulled down when precision work requires them. Despite her practicality, she allows herself one consistent indulgence, intricately embroidered vest-coats made by her own hand, featuring patterns of the medicinal plants she works with most frequently

Origin

Willow grew up in a halfling settlement in the fertile lands south of Neverwinter, where her community was known for its herbalists and healers. From a young age, she displayed an uncommon talent for brewing remedies, learning the craft from her grandmother. By her twentieth year, she could identify dozens of medicinal plants that grew in the Neverwinter Wood and along the Sword Coast, and was developing her own potion recipes.
