Neveren Common
The Lord's Alliance has no official language, but almost all trade, business and politics are done in the common tongue.
The Neveren variety of common has a few phrases that are unique to Neverwinter.
The city's clockworks gave the phrase “By the clocks of Neverwinter”, used to swear something to be completely true and honest, declare something to be precise and accurate, or to complain something was needlessly perfectionist and pedantic. Inhabitants often shorten this to “By the clocks”. It’s kinda like the irl phrase “by the numbers”.
As well as that, New Neverwinter's voracious progress has led to an emerging entrepreneurial class. These people often change their surname when they obtain wealth, so as to better fit in with the nobility. So common is the trend of changing your name after buying a factory that the phrase "buying the factory" is often used to mean "trying to make something look fancier than it is".
As well as that, a common greeting is "Greetings of the morning light"
A common farewell is "May the wind carry you safe" and "May your spears never dull". Those are usually used by sailors and soldiers, respectively. Other goodbye's include "May darkness never touch you" for those who follow the light domain. "May the tides favor your voyage" is used by sailors. "Push the day into the night" is used commonly by most people. Finally, "Use well your sorcery" is used as a farewell by wizards.
