Guild of Machinists
"In this city, progress is our guiding light, and innovation flows through our veins. New Neverwinter stands as a shining beacon of creativity and ingenuity, thanks to the remarkable inventions brought forth by the brilliant minds of our guild." - Exerpt from a speech given by Fablen Wiggins to the citizens of New Neverwinter.
Headquartered at the houses of wonder and knowledge, this guild is home to artificers, clerics of the knowledge domain, and other scholars. Their leader, the Gnomish Professor Fablen Wiggens is also a councillor as the Lord Academic.
The house of knowledge is in the exact centre of the city, and is only accessible to members of the Guild. The house of wisdom is a vast library and temple to Gond (God of innovation), and is open to all.
This guild built the chain network, after factories were banned from the old city. By running loops of chain from outside the city, power can be transported wherever it is needed, bringing light, work and powering the trams (another invention of this guild!).
The Progression of the Guild goes:
1) Apprentice
2) Journeyman
3) Artisan
4) Master
5) Optimus Mechanus
These ranks are tied to the renown system as described in the dmg. Improving renown within the guild can be done by gaining artificer levels (or other applicable classes), doing their quests, making donations etc. “Forging the Future” - The motto of the Guild of Machinsts Admission Joining this guild requires a demonstration of an invention, and it's the dream of every member to present their invention at the Enlightenment Assembly. Function With incredibly close ties to the politics of New Neverwinter, the Machinsts guild has managed to gather many of the historical guilds under its organisation. By restricting its members from working in other regions, and tightly controlling access to raw materials and tools, the guild sustains its relevance across the city. Controlled Trades The most significant (and newest) guild under the umbrella of the machinists guild is the Powdermakers Guild, which controls the manufacure and distribution of gunpowder in Neverwinter. They're a very secretive organisation, often working in disguise and in hidden workshops.

Structure
The Machinists guild is often described as a "guild of guilds". In Neverwinter, it's now rare for a project to only involve one of the major guilds, and the machinists guild acts as a hub for carpenters, masons, glassblowers, metallurgists and other artisans to pool their resources, whilst still maintaining a level of independence. Some see this as the downfall of the guilds system, others as it's natural evolution.
