Magnus IV

The Frail King

Though he was a strong, lean warrior in his youth, a long life has given Magnus plenty of time to grow old and frail. As High King of Kjarra, Magnus rules over the various jarls and lords of the realm as the highest authority of this otherwise decentralized kingdom. He is known to be traditional, stubborn, and increasingly impatient with the machinations of statecraft, gradually delegating more duties to his vassals when possible. Old and infirm, he fathered no sons who survived, having a couple who died in battle years ago. Heirless, the kingdom remains in a succession crisis. Many vassals and subjects are well aware that the High King is old and on death's doorstep, knowing that his death will inevitably result in a civil war with warlords vying for power. While he used to enjoy hunting, proving his mettle in war, and tankards of mead, his old age has drained his vitality as well as his interest in worldly things. These days, he can mostly be found retreating from his stately duties and spending time alone.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

While he was known for his lean yet strong physique in his youth, these days, he is too old and frail to wield a hammer. His body is naturally fairly large, though the years have drained his vitality and strength away. Old and infirm, he isn't capable of much more than waiting for death to take him.

Body Features

He bears a significant scar across his shoulder. He claims this was borne out of a battle with a yeti he had before becoming High King.
