Hseian Highlands
Along the western coasts of Daeruin, the Hseian Highlands are a region and mountain range of fertile montane forests. These temperate highlands serve as the homeland of the Dark Elves and the core of their empire. While Daeruin expands far to the east, the Hseian Highlands remain the most populated and rich region. The region is hilly, mountainous, and forested. The coastal area is mostly rocky cliffs.
Fauna & Flora
The farmland mainly consists of hardy mountain crops such as barley, rye, kale, and cabbage. As far as herbs, one can find thyme, rosemary, sage, and echinacea. At the higher altitudes, lichen, shrubs, and spiked sedges grow among the mountains. Salmon, elfscale mackerel, seaweed, and algae supplement the palette by the coast. Dark Elven mountaineers collect wool shed from wild mountain goats and herd bighorn sheep for their wool and meat. The famous laughingthrush bird can only be found in this region. Beyond that, the region is populated by elk, deer, jackalopes, big cats, and even macaque monkeys who live among the springs of the highlands, occasionally venturing into settlements as they don't mind the presence of humanoids.
