Sayda
A charming village nestled in the Splintered Forest built along the Serene River. It is run by the local lord and his council of village elders. Most of the trade in Sayda is centered around the hamlet’s farms, mill, tavern, and iron mines. The village is also home to the Ebon Company, a guild of mercenaries; while it has seen better days, it still attracts the occasional adventurer looking to earn some gold and renown. Sayda might have been an entirely mundane village without the curious wizard’s tower on the outskirts of town. Legends also tell of an old witch in the forest who brews strange concoctions and can inflict curses.
Demographics
Nearly every resident of Sayda is a human of Droth ancestry. A minor yet notable plurality of humans of Northman descent live in the village as well. Most are descendants of Northman raiders who decided to settle in these lands after the seaborn invasions centuries ago. As they have been easily absorbed into the village's Drothic culture, few tensions remain.
A small influx of Tieflings has challenged the village in the last few years with significant numbers fleeing from persecution in the southern lands, finding succor in the village, always needing extra hands. They have filled jobs of all kinds from entertainers in Sayda's taverns to artificers in the employ of Lord Castello. While the young lord has welcomed them, hoping they may bring new ideas from faraway lands, many human villagers remain wary at best of their new horned neighbors.
Aside from these, some individuals or small families of other ancestries may be found in the village, primarily half elves, half orcs, and halflings.
