Saathvir

God of the Snow Elves

"The Elves are my children and I will protect them so long as they venerate me."

The Lord of Ice

Saathvir is a hero-god of truth and justice and patron of the Snow Elves. He is deeply venerated by the snow elves as not only their patron but their progenitor. Some say he was a heroic ancestor, as is the tradition of elven religion, while others say he is and always was a god in the literal sense. He is associated with the virtues of truth and justice, but also family, war, and law. He lives in an icy realm known as Nehlume, where he governs his domains from his throne and commands his celestial helpers. As a god, he is concerned with righteous action and hospitality. Though the snow elves, culturally, are often described as pacifistic or at least very concerned with defense rather than conquest, Saathvir is often portrayed as a warrior god. He lords over his people in a fatherly manner, treating them as his children in a very protective manner. His relationship with the snow elves is seen in the context of a covenant between him and the ruling House Agbath - so long as they worship the Snow-Lord, he will protect their throne from dark forces that seek to take it away, represented by the Amulet of Saathvir, which hangs from the neck of Queen Neravina.

Artifacts

Shield of Saathvir

In the folklore of the Snow Elves, there is a legendary artifact that comes up again and again, associated with Saathvir. The Shield of Saathvir is said to be buried in the darkest pit of the oppression of the Snow Elves. There have been many guesses as to where this may be, but nobody knows for sure.

Tenets of Faith

Truth. Never tell a lie.   Justice. Justice is a castle on a hill which no army or tide can wash away.   Hospitality. Be kind to the neighbor and the stranger.   Wisdom. It is incumbent upon every elf to seek the knowledge of the world and act accordingly.   Reverence. Whether you worship the other celestials or not, treat them with due respect.
