The Forgotten Gods of the Elves
"Once, we called upon many gods. Now, we are told there is but one. But the stars still shine, the forests still whisper, and the sea still rages. Tell me, then—do the gods truly sleep, or do they simply wait?"
— Eryndor Vaelithis
A Pantheon Erased
Before the rise of the Athesian Empire, the elves of Ysvadell worshipped a vast and ancient pantheon. These deities embodied the forces of nature, war, wisdom, and fate, shaping elven culture for millennia. Temples stood in every city, shrines nestled in forest glades, and offerings were made in reverence to gods who had guided elvenkind since the dawn of history. All of that changed with the ascension of Emperor Tassarion. Declaring that unity, not division, would secure the future of elvenkind, he abolished the worship of all gods save for Elendir—the deified warrior-king who had once led the elves in their greatest crusade. The temples of the old gods were torn down, their priests put to the sword, and their names were stricken from imperial records. To speak them openly was treason. To worship them in secret was death. Yet even in the shadow of the Empire, whispers of the old faith persist. The Lost Gods of Ysvadell
