Silkman
Basic Information
Anatomy
The standard Silkman possesses two eyes, usually of varying colors due to their innate magic, two arms, silky skin, a moderately lithe upper body, and a large and imposing snake tail. The tail is fitted with scales that provide proper protection against the sun and during sandstorms.
Biological Traits
The scales of a Silkman may vary dependent on their region. As the years have progressed, the Silkmen of Viktor-Rot possess more rigid scales and some even developed reptilian claws for protection. While the ones in Calidara possess shinier and lighter colored scales due to the intense heat of the desert. A distinct feature is their Innate Magic that has been termed and accepted by The World Government as "Appraisal Magic". This magic allows many Silkmen to examine the components of a particular item given to them, though, it requires more practice to examine things of more complex value such as steel, petrified wood, or cheap wine. Because of this magic, heterochromia (different colored eyes) is very common among the species. Due to this, unfortunately, they are prime targets of poaching.
Genetics and Reproduction
They produce much like standard mammals despite their reptilian underbelly. They are capable of crossbreeding with the other sentient humanoid creatures of Nermoni (Humans, Bestia, Elfmon, ect).
Growth Rate & Stages
They reach maturity at roughly the age of 13 years old, but are not considered adults until they are able to perform their first purchase if within the culture of normal Silkman society.
Ecology and Habitats
The Calidara Silkmen prefer hot climates of the desert or other continents with misty coasts such as Forexia. The Viktor-Rot Silkmen prefer marsh and damp environments with preferring a cool temperature.
Dietary Needs and Habits
They are omnivores. However, they prefer fruits and meats as their main dietary habits. However, the males enjoy more spice foods, while the females prefer more sweet foods.
Biological Cycle
Similar to snakes, when a Silkman begins to grow in maturity, they can molt their skin of the lower half, and the upper half is not as squishy and pale. These molts are effective in trade depending on how early the molts were shed.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Over the stretch of Calidara, many Silkmen pride themselves in good business science. "The healthier the scales of a Silkman, the more profits he shall bring." as the saying many wiser Silkmen say. The average Silkman will be brought up upon their families in trying to gather their first sale. The high and low society of Silkman culture is all about providing proper commerce to their cities and family tree.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
When being hunted by poachers, their scales are used to craft jewelry and attire as typically seen with reptiles of Nermoni. They only difference to a buyer is that Silkman scales carry a small magical refraction off the light, as well as can be detected by any high-average mage with specialty magic in detection. For slavers, since they are cold-blooded, they higher maintenance, but provide their uses in their vast identifying and appraisal magic within their eyes.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Most of the population resides in Calidara. However, they are sparsely spread out across Nermoni, preferring the lower reaches of Viktor-Rot due to its damp climate.
Average Intelligence
The Silkman's intelligence mainly grows depending upon the type of market they wish to engage commerce in. Though, on average, their intelligence is valued to be relatively high among most other humanoid races in Nermoni.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Their hearing is strong, but possess heightened sight and taste. They have a natural affinity to magic, and some have been known to detect when a storm approaches.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
The naming of a Silkman tends to be androgynous when mingling among themselves. If their mate is of another species, such as Human or Elfmon, they will correspond their names to be more masculine for males, and feminine for females as they believe it to be good fortune to have one's offspring share the same value as their mate.
Major Organizations
Ambassadors of Commerce - A large group that resides within The World Government as those that draw a consensuses on a city or town's economic footprint and, for a price, will educate how to fix holes in the markets and frugal a nation's debts, usually through the trade of resources and luxury goods.
Beauty Ideals
If not for the promise or coin or trade, what a Silkman cares about with beauty is the overall healthy complexion of one's skin. As is their proverb, "The healthier the scales of a Silkman, the more profits he shall bring." which extends to those that are not Silkmen with well maintained skin. While laboring is viewed to be respectable, the roughness of the skin is not ideal to an average Silkman.
Gender Ideals
Both the males and females do not have a preference upon gender, though much like any sentient humanoid race, care for the idea of reproduction.
Courtship Ideals
The ideal courting process is typically a mate that provides good fortune for business. These can be ones that have a silver tongue, beautiful physique, or an overall attention to be affable nature. Silkmen in Calidara prefer mates that are akin to mercantilism, while the ones in Viktor-Rot prefer a mate with a bode of higher confidence.
Relationship Ideals
The commitment of a Silkman is as true as day and night. Silkmen provide a committed relationship to their mate. Many of times, they enjoy a relationship with critical critique as they believe that a keen eye does not only exist to the quality of items, but the quality of an everlasting bond is crucial to making it last.
Average Technological Level
Their technology was highly behind the times when they first were discovered, only merely in the era of tribalism. However, in the modern era, they are as advanced any typical civilization.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Their language consists of harsh syllables and incorporates a variety of low emitting growls. It is a misconception by the standard traveler that they tend to hiss in common practice, though this only true when they are in distress or flustered. Though, due to the inept misinformation, Silkmen will do so to provide more of an exotic experience to their customers.
Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
During the third rotation of the moon around Nermoni, the large cities, towns, and villages will come together in the center and offer their most prized possession for that particular cycle to appeal to the gods. Outsiders are not required, though, they are highly respected if they participate in this tradition.
Common Taboos
It is very frowned upon in the Silkmen culture for any Silkman to sell a known falsified good to anyone. Those that are discovered are inflicted with an iron brand to the left backhand to signify their false hand of a merchant.
History
The Sil'ak'cali, or later referred to as Traditional Silkman is a species that was a species that first saw discovery at roughly 1020 BF, when the supercontinent, Calirac'mundo (Which translates to the Monster Desert), they were a reserved species to the rest of the world. When they were discovered by other sentient races, they realized the importance of commerce among the reptilian creatures as their yearning to appease their gods with good fortune and good tidings. However, once humans began to provide barter and shared mercantilism, they began to reach out of their comfort zone and provide trade with others villages, and soon, other nations and powers of the world. As they neared 500 BF, that was when the Colossal Tide swept over the land bridge that connected the now Calidara and Viktor-Rot, which then, in turn, was followed-up by Calidara's days being brought with long days of drought and intense heat.
The original animals that were more keen to moderate heat were met with high intensity of heat and harsh sandstorms that engulfed and buried creatures not prepared without water for weeks, if not months. Meanwhile, those remaining in Viktor-Rot were forced to endure harsh downpour of endless rainfall and damp fog to cast the continent into a swampy bog of rainforest. The Silkmen believed this to be an omen cast upon their people for conversing and trading with outsiders of the gods. This would cause Calidara to place an embargo from outsiders and the peaceful eviction of non-Silkmen to the wayward side of Hetona's lower peninsula until their commune with their gods were complete for further guidance.
During the time of 300 BF, the Silkmen discovered through many offerings and sacrifices (none of the sentient variety. Merely livestock and crops), the gods appealed to listen to the pleas of the Silkmen, and brought forth rain after years of drought. Overjoyed with their reconnection to their gods, they rekindled their ties with the outside world after scheduled offerings were to be presented upon the third rotation of the moon of every month to the gods with an equal share of at least one valued possession from every Silkmen. With each day that passed, Calidara's towns and cities began to boom to life to what they are today. Fortunately, when the Sea's Leviathan was slain, Calidara was, for lack of better terminology, unharmed by its wraith of the flooding. At the infancy of the After Flooding Era, the Silkmen and Calidara became a major exporter of silks, weaves, jewelry, and scale sigils across Nermoni, effectively revitalizing the world's economy, and garnered was granted seats of Silkmen in The World Government as Ambassadors of Commerce. With their Innate "Appraisal Magic", the Silkmen are a force to be reckon with with the pride of coin and slithery compassion.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
They absolutely love other humanoid species after 300 BF. They will treat them like kin go out of their way as they would with any Traditional Silkman. However, the ones in Viktor-Rot are rather guarded towards outsiders, as the harsh environment leaves a sense of caution to believing them to be deadweight when traveling. Though, when within one of the large cities, they are rather friendly.
