The Nomadic life of Air Genasi

The Air Genasi of Neothane are a peaceful society devoted to caring for the world around them. They thrive in a nomadic lifestyle surviving on the fruits of nature bartering with local farmers and donations toward their art.
“We should live and learn to live as brothers in this life and to trust that she will provide and if no one takes too much there will always be enough she will always fill our cups and we will always raise them up. To the world we dream about and the one we live in now.”    -Orpheus
Tadition of the Air Genasi Nomads   In Air Genasi society everyone serves a purpose as they are often large caravans of airships at the age of 5 Air Genasi children take part in the Ceremony of Ila, where their divine gift is imparted on them all of which are derived from the arts.   They then spend the next 5 years mastering their new skills before joining the “workforce” on their 10th birthday. On this day a wonderful party is thrown as an offering to Ila the Goddess of Beauty and a welcoming to the new “adult” into the inner circle of the tribe.   Many families hope for a unique gift for their children in hopes of creating a more diverse community.   Entering Adulthood: Finding the Divine Soul   Using the skills they learned for over a decade at 15 years old, young Air Genasi may embark on a year-long journey in search of a muse that speaks to their art, The Divine Soul. Every decade one Divine Soul emerges no more no less. Continuing the cycle of life for the Air Genasi Nomads.   Upon return few find their muse but those that do return to high praise and begin the transition into positions of authority in the tribes, for they exhibit an understanding of the world that no other has brought forth until that point and are presented with their own ship to join the caravan. Leading their generation of young people into the sky.     Hierarchy of Air Genasi   Each ship in a Caravan is led by a Divine Soul that captains a ship until they reach the point that they get to travel to the Astral Sea. Each caravan consists of 7 ships. Housing the youngest adults in the rear of the caravan and the elders leading at the front of the caravan. In the middle of the caravan usually ships 3-5 families with young children live, this is where children learn their skills and how the society works.   Order of Ships

  2. 65-75
  3. 55-65
  4. 45-55 (Late born Families)
  5. 35-45 (Average Family Ship)
  6. 25-35 (Young Family Ship)

Passing of the Torch   Once a new Divine Soul has emerged the elder Air Genasi begin their trek to the far reaches of the Astral Sea to join once again with their elders and meet Ila in paradise. Embarking on their final voyage where members of their family and friends present stories of how the elders helped them grow and find their ways in the world.
“Beauty in life is found in the understanding that there is an end.”   -Ila Goddess of Beauty
The celebration ends in the elder ship embarking to the sounds of music, joy and laughter as they begin their next season of life.     Fashions of the Air Genasi   Air Genasi are known for their beautifully handmade garments that consist of colorful flowing robes, skirts, jackets, blouses and hats. Often patterned with complex flowers and other beauties of nature to tell stories of the world as they see it. To be gifted a garment from an Air Genasi is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on any individual as they will not sell these clothes for profit.   Often when a young Air Genasi asks for their partner’s hand in marriage they will spend months creating a garment that signifies wonderful moments in their relationship before offering it to them as a token of proposal, on the day of their wedding the young couple will trade traditional wedding crowns that they have made for each other.
