The Free States of America attempt to secede, leading to the start of the Second American Civil War.

As climate change accelerates, a surge of populist uprisings across the globe lead to the eruption of class warfare as blame for the crisis is placed squarely on the corporations. National governments fall across the globe. Surviving governments must rely upon corp backing to prevail, but are effectively subsumed by the corporations in the process as the rebellions are crushed. The Free States attempt to secede from the United States, leading to the Second American Civil War.
