The Beholder Periodical
The Beholder Periodical is a popular Ethelan monthly tabloid newspaper founded in 1029 and published in Engelton in the Askros. The paper circulates throughout the Empire and is particularly popular among younger populations, such as the Humans of Harefo and Askros, and young Elf groups in otherwise more traditional areas.
The Beholder specializes in sensationalist and sometimes irresponsible journalism, focusing in areas of pseudosience and the occult. Though supporters of the tabloid enjoy its progressive and entertaining style, critics decry its exaggerated and sometimes misleading claims. A particular source of criticism was the Sending Scandal of 1224, wherein The Beholder attempted to phase out their popular print issues and shift to a subscription-based model of direct messages by way of the sending spell.
