Pokonelat Lighthouse (poke-ON-ih-lat)

The Pokonelat Lighthouse is the Major Temple of Bokoren the Sonorous located in the Western Isles. It was once a heavily trafficked area in Maletsok, acting as a lighthouse to ward passing ships from the dangerous rocks in the bordering area between Maleseach and the Western Isles. It's modern usage, however, is unknown as the land has since fallen into the control of the Belsumese Empire.

The Temple was structured much like a typical lighthouse, with a tall spire surmounted by a radiant light. This light was said to be visible especially to sailors on course for ruin, and would even go so far as to highlight the surface of the water above rocks and sand into which the troubled ship was destined to ram. At the spire's base was the Temple Proper; a flat, wide, wall-less structure that allowed the briny breeze to flow through the gathering and worshipping spaces. Surrounding the island upon which the Temple sits was an oasis of calm seas and strong favourable winds, acting as a place of respite on a sailor's journey.

In a similar way, the Temple was a place of safety and ease for Bokoren's numerous devotees. Despite the furcated nature of Bokoren's followers (see Sects in Luthaenoism), the Temple was a veritable safehouse for all worshippers to congregate and praise or placate their god. Although open debates about the nature of Bokoren's will were commonly held, they were civilized and amiable.

Today, however, little is known of the Temple. Since the Belsumese captured the Island, the seas have become tumultuous and a great storm ever haunts the Ilemetsurak; the channel between Maleseach and the Western Isles. Few ships pass through its corridors, and even fewer make port there. It is said by both Stormhaged and Wollenbrack alike that Bokoren himself placed a curse on the lighthouse in anger at the Belsumese.
