The Gangs of Daant Arga
If one does travel to Daant Arga, there isn't anything that can be done without dealing with one or another of the gangs that control the planet. While the gangs aren't necessarily an organized force, they are united in their distaste for off-worlders and keep a watchful eye on the skies of their planet for new visitors.
Visitors to Daant Arga should know as well that each gang trades in their own currency and none of them are the shinies that are common in Alalus.
Dead Eyes
Founded by Tery Brezal, the Dead Eyes control the sector once known as Catbury Junction. As the oldest gang on the planet, they're the one most respected and feared by the other gangs. Once the hub of all transportation on the planet, it's now a shadow of its former self...but it's also got one of the few places to land safely on the planet. The Dead Eyes control all of them so landing in their territory means you're paying them for the space, one way or another. In 3850 AFT their leader is Crandy Wrobail. Sector: Catbury Junction Founding: 3257 AFT Known for: Dead stare of the members Alternate Name: Eyes Killsign: Those who have crossed them will have their eyes gouged out Currency: Flat stones with eyes painted on them with different numerical values inked on the pupilsCrimson Fang
Founded by Miley Mesanch, the Crimson Fang contol the sector once known as Dombach Heights. This was once one of the richest sectors on the planet and is highly prized by the gangs for that reason. The Crimson Fang was an offshoot of the Wolf Sisters, formed by a Sister who left the gang after a dispute with another Sister led to one of them ending up dead. She formed the Fang out of nothing and took the Heights from it's previous gang, the Black Hooks, by force. In 3850 AFT their leader is Ronio Mire. Sector: Dombach Heights Founding: 3391 AFT Known for: They still run the sector as a trading area, having a deal with the Dead Eyes to make use of the spaceport to bring in goods to the planet via smugglers Alternate Name: Fangs Killsign: Cross a Fang and someone will find you dead in the center of the Heights with a crude hooked knife in the throat Currency: Teeth (real and not) with numerical values carved into them (note: sometimes they'll take fresh teeth as a trade instead)Disciples
Founded by Father Markeith Flinson, the Disciples control the sector once known as Æidian. The third of the trio of the oldest gangs alongside the Dead Eyes and the Wolf Sisters, the Disciples were actually a mistake. Father Flinson came to New Terra from Eusarre Erria, believing that he needed to preach there in order to help heal the wounds left by Baen Arleth. He did preach to them...but eventually poor diet and the general conditions drove him to madness and he formed the same sort of group with a religious fervor as Arleth had...only without a way to get off planet. In 3850 AFT their leader is Arlel Ewing and the gang remains as fervent as they did during their founding. Sector: Æidian Founding: 3264 AFT Known for: Being highly religious, to the point of zealotry Alternate Name: Zealots Killsign: Those who cross one of the Disciples will end up being stoned to death and found with the name of a god of Eusarre Erria hung around their neck (most often Zanmus the Deaththroat, Qrosdona Hand of the Hunt, or Seraq the Unavoidable Knife) Currency: The Disciples do not use currency, preferring a trade systemEmerald Hand
Founded by Asold Clere, the Emerald Hand control the sector once known as Bicenne. This was another rich sector on the planet in its heyday and was one that had a large amount of personal gardens that were left to go wild. However, they weren't food gardens so most people merely looted the area and left the planets alone. Asold Clere had different plans. A spy and assassin who betrayed his last employer, he went to Daant Arga to escape from those pursuing him. Finding like minded people on the planet, they took over the sector...and he beat back the overgrown gardens and began growing the poisonous plants that were his primary killing method. In 3850 AFT their leader is Cesa Clere, a descendant of Asold and just as cruel. Sector: Bicenne Founding: 3340 AFT Known for: Killing by poison Alternate Name: Hands Killsign: Anyone who crosses a Hand receives a note detailing exactly what they did and how and when they're going to die - usually received right as the poison kicks in Currency: Roughly cut paper made from their plants with numerical values inked on (note: sometimes the currency can still carry small amounts of poison)Blossoms
Founded by George Rison, the Blossoms contol the sector once known as Backmoor. This was one of the poorest sectors in the city and remained heavily populated even as the rest of the planet began to be abandoned. George Rison, a former HAEM pilot who got blacklisted for murder and escape before he could be taken to Lxile, came there and reformed that poor district into a gang to be feared. In 3850 AFT their leader is Liana Tewalk. Sector: Backmoor Founding: 3277 AFT Known for: Making a fair deal but not taking backstabbing lightly Alternate Name: Soms Killsign: Those who cross them are found with makeshift coins covering their eyes in a mockery of the ancient practice of paying the ferryman Currency: The same makeshift coins as used in their killsign, engraved with numerical valuesWolf Sisters
Founded by Zuri Calder, the Wolf Sisters control the sector once known as High Broaldi. They were one of the first gangs to form once the Senate and the majority of the population abandoned the planet. Their leadership and members are only ever women since their founding (some who are foolish enough might argue that there technically has been male membership due to the presence of trans members but don't say that to the face of a Wolf Sister unless you want to eat a slug or two). In 3850 AFT their leader is Saria Gonzal. Sector: High Broaldi Founding: 3260 AFT Known for: All female membership Alternate Name: Sisters Killsign: Those who cross a Sister will be found with their throats torn out, as if attacked by a wolf Currency: The Wolf Sisters do not use currency, preferring a trade systemSpiders
Founded by Dena Walkell, the Spiders control the sector once known as Drukogdom City. This sector was once one of the major trading hubs on the planet and thus was heavily looted after the area was abandoned. After coming up from nothing amongst the Blossoms, Dena Walkell got it into her head that she wanted more. When she failed to kill George Rison and got kicked out of the sector, she wandered until she ended up in Drukogdom. There she found squatters and looters and coaxed them to follow her, eventually forming the Spiders. In 3850 AFT their leader is Verla Patte. Sector: Drukogdom City Founding: 3285 AFT Known for: Being backstabbers if it's worth it Alternate Name: Webs Killsign: Anyone who crosses them will be found hung upside down with their throats cut Currency: "Tokens" made of different numbers of short, corded ropesExtant Gangs
