City-State of Pitis
This is about Pitis before it was ruined. To see the effects of this ruins, see the article : Fall of Pitis
The Free City of Pitis was once the capital of the world. It is located in the Mountain's Door, where the Goorduhr opens, and in the only passage from the Plains of Garkbrag to the Desert of Duna. Thus, it was a strategical position for a city such as Pitis.
According to the Legends, it was the very first city built on the Old World. It is in fact believed by scholard (first theorized by the Archeologue Gyld Reval) that it is much more recent than, for example, Almerie, as without other trade hubs, Pitis would not have been as rich.
And rich it was indeed. Pitis was on every Trader's route.
There are 9 districts in Pitis :
- Elvenard : Built on a small hill, this district - as the name suggest - is mainly populated by elves, though all races are welcome.
- West-Llead : Litteral translation (from elvish) : West-Wall. This district follows the west side of the white walls. Most metal-workers (armorers, weapon-smiths, etc.) are there.
- East-Llead : Litteral translation (from elvish) : East-Wall. This district follows the est side of the white walls. Most wood-workers (carpenters, boat-builders, etc.) are there.
- Buryminster : In the center of Pitis, is are two very large temps. The first is to Oxius, and the second is to Syzena. Buryminster contains the temples and their neighborhood.
- Under-Rocks : This district was built by dwarves and gnomes into the mountain. Houses and streets are carved in the stone, and the sky cannot be seen.
- Lochtun : This lake, created by multiple small waterfalls (flowing from streams coming from the southern mountain), is home to tritons, sea-elves, and other folks wishing to live under-water.
- Llydiss Park : Legends are unsure wether Llydiss was a dryad, an alraune, or another plant-based creature, but all tales agree that the said creature made the park in only one night, and lived there for years afterwards.
- Caer-Golem : This fortified castle rests in ruins on the cliff of the mountains. Most precious objects are still in the castle, protected by an army of golems of different materials created years ago.
- Roasted-Dragon Market (formerly known as The Halflings' Bazar) : This district is composed of a great plaza where stands are built by merchants and traders, and of the surrounding streets. It is named Roasted-Dragon, because according to the tales, when a local hero triumphed over a bronze dragon, he brought it back here, roasted it, and offered some to anyone who was hungry.
Demographics
The population of Pitis is very diverse. Even Orcs are welcome in Pitis, unlike most civilized and non-green-skinned-only settlements. Scholars think the city was founded by an ancient and now extinct race.
Government
Pitis is lead by a council of 33 members. They are randomly selected in the population every 2 years, and all decide everything together.
Industry & Trade
The city does not generate much natural ressources by itself, but trade is so important that the city is rich in everything. There are also a lot of artisans, enjoying the wealth of the city.
Infrastructure
The first thing people see entering Pitis is the large and high White Walls of Pitis. These walls are built on the East and West of Pitis, and stop where the mountain starts.
Guilds and Factions
The city is lead by Pitis' Council.
Architecture
Most buildings are made of the same white stone than the walls of the city, and of wood. The farther you get inside the city, the more wood appears on the buildings, and most buildings next to the walls are only made of stone, making them blend in with the walls.
Geography
The city is surrounded north and south by the Goorduhr Mountains. There is a small river flowing down the northern mountain and down to the Plains of Garkbrag, on which small boats send resources and trading goods.
RUINED SETTLEMENT
Pitis became ruined in the year 0.
