Enchanted Cheddar

Enchanted Cheddar is a form of cheese that has the power to become sentient when crafted by a skilled enough artesian. Its production was at its height during the Age of Trade in Tali. It has reached mythical status in the current era as the Giant Unicows that produce the magic infused milk no longer exists after both being hunted and farmed to for its magical properties leaving the species vulnerable to the Horn Plague that targeted many creatures with horns and caused the mass extinction of the Giant Unicows.   Crafted by the greatest cheese crafters in Tali into various shapes and forms; Enchanted Cheddar became a valuable delicacy amongst the high nobility all across Daemos both for its taste and entertainment value.   After the Cheese War crafters were banned from making their into the forms of humanoids or anything considered high in intellect after the deadly war claimed the lives of entire towns and villages when an army of Cheesemen rebelled against their masters upon discovering their fates once their service was to end.   An ethical conundrum did occur to some who partook in the eating of enchanted cheddar as creating a food with a form of sentience and eating was seen as a rather cruel endeavour. Especially when the cheese was usually conscious to some degree during the consumption process. This led to some groups protesting the consumption of the Enchanted Cheddar Creations with some even going on to advocate for the rights of creations to be treated like regular creatures and not inanimate objects turned animate.   It was not soon after this that the Giant Unicow became extinct due to the Horn Plague sweeping the continent and wiping them out and leaving many of the Cheese Artificers who made their money from these creations destitute and without power. Some hoarding the last of their enchanted cheese in the Grand Cheese Vaults of Tali as an asset for their investments in a bid to remain relevant.   Today the last of the Enchanted Cheddar is held in these vaults and have passed hands many times with few ever having set eyes upon the enchanted cheddar; leading to rumors and legends about what it is and what it can do amongst both the common folks and nobility alike.
