Soulak
Soulak was the title given to the leader, usually a matriarch, of the Marahum. They were responsible for consulting the group's spirits, The Tousoula, interpreting their wishes, performing rituals and ceremonies, and guiding the group on their travels. The Soulak was not a dictator. They usually functioned as the leader of a group of loosely assembled elders, and this group would decide who the title would be handed on to, in consultation with their dovuun.
