First Great Turbulence

A ten year period during which there was unprecedented and near-apocalyptic geographic, magical, and social upheaval. The geography changed significantly, with the singular continent Inali splitting into five smaller continents, and a number of islands.

  The continents that formed from Inali were:
Myrell
Miayr-Azal
Gonyx
Oshor
Zahr   Origins

The exact cause of the First Great Turbulence is unknown. Some believe that the magic of Nataya rises and falls in cycles, and those who wish to become more powerful wanted to fix the arcane energies at their greatest height, and their efforts to do so caused the geography of Nataya to destablise.
Others think that it was due to the evil of the shadow pantheon, or even caused by the efforts of the main pantheon to contain those evil deities.
Yet others think that it is simply a natural process and part of a cycle the planet goes through, and which must be endured.
