Extoller
When it comes to warriors, the Telothian Legion and the Seeker fellowships produce some of the finest specimens to carry that title.
Recently, the Penitent Guard has begun taking their worst sinners guilty of unforgivable crimes and naming them Extollers. These husks of men fear nothing for they have nothing left to fear for.
For these crimes, they are inducted into the Penitent Guard and forged large bells that they must carry with them at all times, a very literal burden that their sins have heaped upon their shoulders. This bell they must ring daily to count their sins, and they are only allowed to substract from their number through honorable service or acts of selfless heroism.
Extollers, as well as their brothers in arms, consider their lives already forfeit for the sins they've committed, and thus they take risks no sane person would. After all, why wouldn't they? They either pay for their past mistakes with their lives, or atone for them through glorious victory in the face of evil.
During patrols, instead of trying to make themselves inconspicuous as to not unnecessarily draw the attention of the denizens of the Black Forest, extollers brazenly ring their bells, inviting the monstrous Hatelings to test their mettle against their steel.
Extollers are also required, by decree of the Church of Resounding Truth, to ring their bells when making their way through settlements and cities, as to warn those around of their presence. It is not unusual for passersby to pelt these processions with rotten fruit and vegetables as well as spit at the disgraced knights, a far cry from the adoration and cheers received by seekers from the other fellowships.
This leads to the lives of most extollers to consist of nothing but constantly braving the horrors of the Black Forest with a night of rest here and there.
Such massive amounts of stress, combined with the general disdain they are treated with, leave these individuals emotionally distant and many even forego speech and communication altogether, following orders they are given like automatons.

Sinners
Much like all the members of the Penitent Guard, extollers are criminals. But whereas the average seeker of the Guard might be a thief, fraudster or extortionist, there are also the men and women who are guilty of murder, torture, rape and other vile atrocities. For these crimes, they are inducted into the Penitent Guard and forged large bells that they must carry with them at all times, a very literal burden that their sins have heaped upon their shoulders. The Tolling
Most extollers prefer to use their vespers as weapons, fashioning massive flails or staves that they affix the bells to.During patrols, instead of trying to make themselves inconspicuous as to not unnecessarily draw the attention of the denizens of the Black Forest, extollers brazenly ring their bells, inviting the monstrous Hatelings to test their mettle against their steel.

Redemption
Despite the depths of their past wickedness, it is possible for extollers to earn redemption, provided they survive for that long. Each completed patrol and each hateling brought low by an extoller counts towards their salvation and they are in fact encouraged to take on extra shifts and to volunteer for patrols. This leads to the lives of most extollers to consist of nothing but constantly braving the horrors of the Black Forest with a night of rest here and there.
