Session 1 Humble beginnings
General Summary
The party's first move is to go to the local guard and ask about the necromancer problem. After being very unhelpful they send the party to the tavern, where they are able to get more information from the town guard.
Upon entering the tavern they got more information from the barkeep. Roda muddles whatever wits he had by drinking copious amounts of ale. The brave heroes then go on and try to hunt down the necromancer.
While on their way to the graveyard, outside of the city, they come across a young sobbing woman. She's on her way back from visiting her late husband's grave. The party tries to interrogate her. However Roda, in his drunken stupor, ends up scaring her away instead.
They eventually arrive at the graveyard but it's eerily quiet. When stealthily entering the small chapel, Plum sees a reanimated corpse fall down. It seems they have just missed the necromancer.
Upon further inspection of the chapel Orn finds the mark of Samaël carved into a wooden pillar and starts hacking away at it, eventually succeeding in destroying the ungodly sigil.
The party then comes up with a plan to make a trap with a heavy stone that would swing in the face of whoever enters the chapel first, hoepfully knocking them out. They also made a sign saying 'under construction' to try and prevent someone else from going in without permission. For this plan they carved a large piece of stone out of a wealthy looking grave.
After setting the trap they then head back to the tavern for a good night's rest. However, upon entering the town Plum speaks to a guard and tries to figure out what he's reading. He finds out it's a letter calling every ablebodied man to the front lines to fight for the empire. Orn keeps walking and enters the pitch black tavern, where he pours himself a drink, once again proving that dwarves do not give a shit and are way cooler than us mortals will ever be. Roda then slowly stumbled up to the tavern as well, still drunk, giving off the chaotic energy of that one uncle who always gets way too drunk at christmas while playing Santa. In true, drunken relative fashion he then passes out at the bar. Orn sees this but since dwarves are too cool to care he goes upstairs to sleep in his room.
Meanwhile, back outside, Plum meets a stranger in black armor on the streets and after a brief talk where the stranger tells Plum about how he finds Tabaxi flesh especially easy to cut, Plum feels rather unsettled and goes back to the tavern. He sees Roda on the floor, swiftly undresses him(which is hard considering the barbarian is always half naked) and scratches a P on his buttocks before going to bed.
The next morning Plum is the first one to awaken. He hears commotion going on outside, but doesn't let it bother his furry little ass. Roda wakes up with one hell of a hangover, as predicted, but despite all this he does go and check out the commotion outside. He sees lots of non human-races leave town, as well as all of the imperial soldiers. Then, last but not least, Orn wakes up to the wailing of a woman who has to give up her son, Thomas, for the war effort. Flowers are being attached to the saddles of soldiers as a way to honour them one last time before sending them off.
Once everyone's gone they hear the PD soldiers sing their signature Nirvana victory song, hereby proving that Kurt Cobain will come and find you no matter what era you live in.
Afterwards Roda saw Thomas still try to leave despite being late due to his mother's relentless fussing over him and her refusal to let him go. He tried to help him, even though the teen specifically told him he did not need any help. Eventually this caused quite a commotion which pissed off Hans, the leader of the PD soldiers that were dispatched to takeover Scheinfeld.
They end up kicking Roda out of town after writing down his name and description. Thomas leaves, still annoyed. He then meets a Betonian knight, Philippe La Souris, with his son, Alois, and they go around to enter the gate on the other side of town. Meanwhile Plum and Orn are in a tavern, trying to find a way to hide.
Roda and Philippe enter the town and see the PD is hanging up a list of citizens that aren"t allowed in the city, Roda is included on this list. They sneak around and make it to the Golden Eel Tavern.
The boys are reunited and meet with Morgain, a lady who owns a farm in the middle of down. She begs them not to leave the town. She knows Scheinfeld needs help and the party are the only ones that have stuck around. They agree and figure out their best bet is to hideout in Morgain's farm for the time being. She hides the non humans in flour bags and takes them to the stables of her farm to lay low until it was safe to move them to Applegate farm outside of the city since she's good friends with the couple who own the farm. She figured that would be a much better place to lay low since her farm was in the middle of town, which had become PD central. She leaves to make the arrangements while the party rest up.
Morgain quickly returns with a plan to get the boys out of town and confirmation that they will be allowed to stay at Applegate Farm. She explains the plan to the party when suddenly there is a hurried knock at the door, a dwarf named Hopkins barges in as soon as she opens the door. He is also looking for temporary cover after noticing her move the strange bags of flour earlier he knew something was up. He is happy to see Orn, since he thought most dwarves had left town. He ended up handing him a mysterious letter before hastily leaving again because he knew the PD were looking for him and he didn't want to get the party in trouble.
After this the party decides it is time to go as well. Morgain helps the party disguise themselves. She disguises Orn as a little girl and gives Roda a cloak, which is ridiculously small for a big guy like him but it hides his face. They then hide Plum in another flour bag and leave the safety of Morgain's farm.
On their way to the gates they pass by the townsquare where the mayor has been put into the stocks by PD officials. An unsettling sight. Despite everything they manage to persuade the guards to let them exit town by pretending that Roda was a poor farmer bringing his daughter to the monastry up north where her mother was waiting for her.
Once outside of town they tried to made a run for Applegate farm but were stopped near the edge of the forest a PD patrol. Orn and Roda hid in some nearby bushes as Plum decided to handle it use his special persuasion technique. With his big beady eyes he was able to not only convince the patrol to let them pass and on top of that to give him one of their horses. The party was safe and they now had a horse! They continued their journey through the woods as it started getting darker and darker.
They were almost there but then they was halted once more! This time by an old lady who claimed to be making her way into town to see her grandchild. She offered them some cookies which they graciously took. Orn and Plum took a bite and were seemingly fine. However, Roda decided to feed his cookie to the horse, turning the normal mare into a Nightmare. The old lady wasn't just a normal old lady. She was a witch. A crazy laugh errupted from the lady as her friendly face melted, revealing the hag's true disgusting nature.
A battle ensued. It was the party versus the hag and her cookie army. Fortunately they ended up beating the evil wench. Despite Roda nearly losing to one of her candy lads. They even managed to reverse the corruption on the horse.
After looting the old lady's decapitated corpse Plum ended up finding another feline companion. A beautiful little black cat.
Pleased but exhausted the party then finally arrived at Applegate farm, concluding our adventure for now.
