Béé Hózin
The schools are fundamental. We have given them name and form and domain, but they have always been. They are the essence of existence and are intrinsic to all things.
When we make magic, we alter the fabric of reality itself.
As for the gods, they did not create magic, or life, or reality; we creatures subject to those powers created the gods. Our dedication to the craft was so pure as to bear divinity.
— An Excerpt from The Origin of Magic by Archmagister Sáávrel Iina'hok'ee
Divine Origins
When the archfey first left the Feywild, they were stymied by the immutable nature of the Prime Material Plane. Used to accessible magic comprising the very fabric of their world, they didn't understand how to create the same power on this world.
Some found a connection to nature itself and learned to channel the intrinsic power of Namidee. Some made deals and arrangements with other powerful beings. Still others studied the world around them, determined to find a way to make magic accessible to everyone. These last worked so furiously and so sincerely, their arcane experiments stirred dormant powers across the multiverse.
These powers grabbed onto the mystical energies and fed them, just a little bit. The arcane prowess of the archfey—now nishti-wa—grew stronger, just a little bit. The planar powers were bolstered by the nishti-wan efforts and fed them in turn. This cycle continued until those powers became gods and made themselves known to the nishti-wa across Namidee.
Today, Myth'Talsiria and its sister cities acknowledge dozens of minor deities related to the study and practice of magic and eight major deities of the universal schools of magic.
Priesthood
The nature of the Béé Hózin is such that its acolytes revere the study of magic over the gods themselves. Those that do dedicate their lives to service of one or more deities of Béé Hózin do so in a practical way, e.g. healers and merchants of Dianacht, writers and artists of Ma'ii, scribes and messengers of Eor, etc. Moreover, these custodians of faith are socially inferior to arcane mages in societies where the Béé Hózin is prominent.
Political Influence & Intrigue
The nishti-wan dedication to arcane craft led to the most homogenized ethnic group in Namidee. As the former archfey travelled out across the Prime, their magic kept them connected and the Béé Hózin spread throughout the world. It is the only religion that can be found on every continent of Namidee. As a result, the hierarchies and power structures attached to it can also be found on every continent of Namidee.
