Purpose

The purpose of this document is to allow potential students to understand the different paths to completing a degree within the college.

Major Schools of Magic (Arcane Paths)

Students choose a primary focus in their second year. All are supported by specialized labs and professors.

  • Abjuration: Wards, barriers, protection glyphs
  • Conjuration: Summoning, planar studies, small portals
  • Divination: Scrying, tide & sky augury
  • Enchantment: Charm, compulsion, resonance with the mind
  • Evocation: Controlled destructive forces — lightning, storms, sea-fire
  • Illusion: Mirage craft, woven performances
  • Necromancy: Memory echoes, careful handling of spirits, ocean burial rites
  • Transmutation: Material alteration, coral shaping, enchanted alloys

Primal & Nature Magic

For druids, rangers, or wizards exploring natural forces.

  • Herbalism & Sea Alchemy
  • Wildshape Adaptations (especially aquatic)
  • Weather Influence & Seasonal Rites (often taught on cliff terraces)

Bardic Colleges

Integrated into campus life, with dedicated instructors and performance halls.

  • College of Echoes (unique): Mastery of resonance over water & air
  • College of Lore: Story, hidden histories, general mastery
  • College of Glamour: Festival arts, illusions, commanding presence
  • College of Valor: Battle magics, rallying displays
  • College of Whalesong (regional): Drawing on songs of leviathans & sea spirits

Specialized Electives & Programs
  • Sirenic Phonetics (mimicking enchantments of sea creatures)
  • Cartography of Deep Ley Lines
  • Runic Instrument Crafting (harps, horns, drums)
  • Coral Weaving (living structures)
  • Aquatic Familiar Husbandry (lantern otters, dream eels)

Graduation & Trials
  • Practical Thesis: spell demonstration, illusion performance, or enchanted creation
  • Ley Mastery Trials for advanced apprentices
  • Bardic capstone performances, often staged in the Tide Theater
