History of the World
Dragoon, Great Mother and Father created us all. His children support us and give us nourishment. Their children and grandchildren protect all life dearly, and give the world all its wonders. The seasonal dragons made their lairs in shrines. Here their children, spirits and the grounded people could receive guidance.
Axolotl and Couatls were the first children who did not posses the ability to express magic. They were clingy children, lacking the chaotic force of their older siblings. Their next children, the Pygmy and Humans, were forced out of their nest at a young age. The shrines of the seasonal dragons provided them their only guidance. And yet they still struggled. For many thousands of years this remained true.
Then the seasonal dragons began to die. Creating their children had taken more of their life force than anticipated. And yet the seasonal dragons longed for more children. Together the seasonal dragons came together to create the Ryuujin as the last of their life force faded. The Ryuujin were half-dragon half-people, with one unique ability. They could record the stories of the world to feed the great seasonal dragon, helping them regain their strength.
And so, their powers diminished they left, leaving remnants of shrines and the Ryuujin to guide their helpless children. One day, the seasonal dragons may return.
There is also hope. The Ryuujin had an unexpected impact on the people of the world.
Through Ryuujin's careful guidance, people found untapped strength in their journeys and became strong. Humans built cities, and Pygmys created language. Couatls became independent, and could travel without rest or permanent shelter. Axolotl created traditions that are passed down through the generations, learning how to manifest a small amount of dragonic power.
Children of the world, take every step in your journeys with pride. You will grow stronger, and through your stories so too will the world become strong.
