Supplementary Material to Until the Darkness Swallows Her Up

This article will serve as a place for me to share supplementary stuff about my WIP novel, Until the Darkness Swallows Her Up, as it is being worked on. As of writing this, six chapters of the first draft have been completed, but I don't consider them ready to be published here as a Manuscript. Cheers!

Poems

Faith In the Night
When she was a child, Crescent Moon loved Polmas with all her heart. She saw the Moon Goddess as a comforting, motherly figure who never failed to guide, teach and comfort her.
In fields of grass, where shadows play,
A young Moon danced with a sad sway.
In grey she twirled, a lonely sight,
Beneath the moon's ethereal light.
She reached above, a longing plea,
For kinship in the night to be.
Then moonlight bloomed, a gentle grace,
A goddess formed in its place.
With gown of flow, like waters deep,
And moons and dream catchers of sleep.
Her hair of purple, stars did gleam,
A tender smile, a waking dream.
Polmas, the goddess, took her hand,
And danced with care across the land.
Moon followed close, with steps so light,
As Polmas bathed her in the night.
A silky blanket, soft and grand,
Transformed her dress, across the land.
To purple waves and pink so bright,
With stars and moons, a wondrous sight.
The grass gave way to a lake so clear,
As Moon was changed, dispelling her fear.
They danced and swayed, in endless bliss,
A tender embrace, a loving kiss.
When the dawn arrived with golden hue,
Polmas departed, her stay overdue.
Moon felt the sting, a tear did fall,
But Polmas promised, "I'll return, stand tall."
"Each night I'll dance, beneath the stars,
Shining my light everywhere, near and far."
So Moon awaited, with hopeful heart,
Until the dance, a brand new start.

Forsaken
A few years later. Soon after Nilu's death, Crescent Moon tries to seek comfort in her faith, but is threatened by the encroaching darkness.
Aged now, Crescent Moon, by moonlit gleam,
Once more she danced, lost in a dream.
Her goddess, she sought, with hopeful sigh,
Beneath the vast and starry sky.
But clouds rolled in, a sudden shroud,
Obscuring light, a darkened cloud.
A shadow fell, confusion's sting,
To Polmas' name, her cries did ring.
  Unknowing of the dark's embrace,
A pool of shadow, swift in pace.
From it emerged a dreadful sight,
A figure born of endless night.
With bony fingers, sharp and long,
And eyes of yellow, where shadows throng.
It seized her fast with a chilling hold
And dragged her in, a horror soon to unfold.
Moon fought and pleaded, tried to flee,
"Oh, Polmas, save me! Set me free!"
But then came lies, a venomous sound,
"Your goddess is gone, nowhere to be found."
Hope ebbed away, a fading spark,
She danced with darkness in the stark.
Her dress, once light, now stained and deep,
With inky swirls, causing her to weep.
The dance grows wild, a frantic pace,
Then stillness falls in that dark place.
A promise is made, a chilling vow,
"One day we'll merge, starting from now."
It fades away, a spectral sigh,
Leaving Moon broken, beneath the sky.
Alone and scared as the shadows loom,
To be consumed by black and silent doom.
