Fal Nép - Tree-folk

What Are They?

Fal nép, also known as tree-folk, are a type of golem native to the woodlands and most of the grasslands. They were said to be created by Mozdul'Erdok, who used the bark of various types of trees to form husks. He then put pieces of His essence into their empty chests, granting them life and sapience.   These gentle giants (most are) are most recognized for their connection to natural elements,—mainly wood, earth and flora—philosophical nature, and most of all, their practice of floral symbiosis.

Connection to Flora

"Csilla?"   The ancient philosopher smiled and looked down at the young girl, her big, brown eyes displaying her usual curiosity.   "What question do you have for me this time, young Moon?"   The girl pointed at the yellow flowers and red mushrooms lining the cracks in Csilla-Gohk's back. "How did you get those?"   "From floral symbiosis."   Crescent Moon tilted her head in confusion. "What's that?"   Csilla leaned down as far as her worn back would allow, and beckoned the girl closer.

Floral symbiosis is the fals' revered tradition of intertwining plants (and mushrooms) with the body, mainly to celebrate and honour their gods. A significant number of them perceive this process as a powerful representation of the bond between Mozdul'Erdok and Mohala'Ma—trees and blossoms, earth and vegetation.   This tradition is often seen as a religious one—it embodies the essence of nature and the interconnectedness of all living things. Through floral symbiosis, tree-folk find not only spiritual fulfilment but also a profound sense of belonging within their community and natural environment.

Uses of Floral Symbiosis

Two-Way Sustenance
The attached plants serve as an additional source of sustenance for the fal nép. Worry not; this arrangement is mutually beneficial as the plants also gain nutrition from their host.   Bloomin' Beauty
Floral symbiosis can be used to beauty a fal's bark, whether for ceremonies, personal reasons or to attract a potential second half!
Shroomy Defence
Warriors and soldiers can cultivate a row of thick, strong mushrooms on their bark to serve as protective barriers.   Higher Enlightenment
Philosophers and scholars utilize special mushrooms that open the mind to alternative thought by attaching them to their heads.
Herb Shelf
Healers and herbalists grow various herbs with healing properties on their bodies for quick access.   Pua Reparation
When encountering an injured kinaka'pua, the fal néps would typically restore their health by merging the pua with their own bodies while drawing energy from healing plants to facilitate the process.

No mushroom, yay! Okay, almost no mushroom, at least the focus is not on them. I love the concept of your tree giants. They remind me a liiiiitlle bit of ents. Are they somehow also connected to the gates, as you wrote they are golem as well?

Thank you!! Just googles ents and I can see the likeness :O   And no, these guys aren't connected to the Gates. There are specific golems that guard them.
