The Eagle's Fane
Purpose / Function
The Eagle's Fane is used both for worship of the Eagle Lord and as a place of justice, where criminals are tried and punished.
Architecture
The Eagle's Fane is a large, limestone building, with columns lining the front and sides. There is a golden eagle with outstretched wings overlooking the entrance, and its roof is domed and engraved with scenes from mythology and images of birds. Inside, the floors are made from marble and mosaics, again containing images of birds and Eires' home upon Mount Erestor. The large room is open, with a few benches here and there near the walls, and statues of Eagles, famous Sylvar, and important figures in Mythology lining the walls. The raised dais on the far end of the room contains a shrine to Eires topped with a silver shield with the golden eagle emblazoned on it. There are a few small rooms in the back for meditation and rest, and stairs leading up to the priests' quarters located in the thick walls of the dome.
History
The Eagle's Fane was constructed shortly after Archon became the capital of Archren, a few years after it was annexed by the empire. It was intended to be the center of worship for the whole country, and is still a site of pilgrimage for those who follow the Lord of Eagles to this day.
