Nicolas Griffin is from an old family, one that has estates in Britain, as well as America. His parents sent him to America for a different perspective. He at first didn't agree with this, but relented. He was sent to a regular, public high school, where he meets Brendan Books, and the two become friends over time. They bond over every day things; mainly when a girl Nicolas liked rejects him, and Brendan helps cheer him up.
the two become close friends through high school and into college, where Nicks Mother passes down a pendant to him that brought her luck in her law firm. It didn't take long for him to discover why (See Kozen for more)
