Toxol mushroom

Properties

Material Characteristics

The Toxol mushroom is, thankfully, easily identifiable due to its bright red coloration. The cap forms a wide dome over its beige stalk.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Toxol mushrooms are toxic and cannot be eaten raw or cooked by nearly any species on Terra. A rare few animals will eat these dangerous mushrooms.

Compounds

This mushroom is named because of its high levels of toxins. Ingesting even a part of one can have severe negative effects to your digestive system.  However, while most people avoid the Toxol mushroom, botanists and magicians won't pass on the chance to pick them up. In recent studies, it seems the compound of the Toxol mushroom can be used as an energizing solution. This process has yet to be perfect and the side-effects still need to be worked around however...

Geology & Geography

The Toxol mushroom can be found all over Terra. Though it is most common in the Southern Regions.

History & Usage

Industrial Use

Researchers are the only ones whom have any sort of interest in this mushroom. If you happen to have on in your possession, it could sell for a nice sum should you have a chance encounter with just such a researcher.

Refinement

A raw Toxol mushroom is near useless. (Unless you are actively looking to poison someone.) Botanists and Magicians alike undergo a strange process in order to extract what they need from the Toxol mushroom and use it in their potions.

Hazards

As of now, the end results remain unsatisfactory even after centuries of using Toxol mushrooms in countless experiments. The casualty rate has dropped significantly in recent years however.
