Serprepta

The antithesis of the Lemouille people. Sometimes referred to as the nightmare of the water/Nightmare in the water.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The devilish Serprepta are an amphibious monster who's reign of terror over the Lemouillites continues to this very day. Their long thin bodies define the word serpent. Along the back, from the back of the head all the way to the tip of its tail, a thin and highly flexible membrane helps them maneuver swiftly through the water. Near the end of its tail, a pair of tiny legs ending with flat feet resembling the membrane on their backs. At the end of its 'toes' are minuscule and sharp talons which seem to allow them to better grasp the terrain both under and above water. Closer to the head, the Serprepta also has a pair of arms that resemble tentacles with three equally large fingers. Each finger as well as the palm is adorned with suckers much like the ones seen on octacles. Finally the head is arguably their most defining feature. It is large in contrast to its body. The face is thin in width and has symmetrical indentations on the sides of their forehead. The eyes lack eyelids and are found on the sides of the head. Level with the eyes are another pair of identical groves that allow the Serprepta to gaze forward even if their eyes are flat against the side of the head. There is no nose to speak of and the mouth opens wide to reveal small sharp fangs and a forked tongue. The lower jaw is highly flexible allowing them to expand and swallow prey larger than them. Lastly, just beneath what is considered their neck, lies a pair of fin-like appendages once again seemingly made of the same material as the membrane on their backs. These fins move independently though their purpose is unknown.

Genetics and Reproduction

According to Lemouillite accounts, Serprepta are oviparous and lay their eggs in nests they construct primarily out of the debris of ancient ruins.

Growth Rate & Stages

Very little is known of the Serprepta's life cycle. What is assumed to be young Serprepta behave exactly like the adults. The only difference is the size of the monster.

Ecology and Habitats

The Serprepta live underwater though they are more than capable of living on land. In fact, should you encounter one while swimming, once you've reached the shore, do not think you are out of danger. They will slither out of the water nearly as quickly as they swim through it. Serprepta sightings are primarily found in the Heindenselm Region. In the past, residents and visitors to the Beaukudo Region have mistaken the long-tail snapper for a Serprepta. To this day, no confirmed accounts of Serprepta sightings have been made in Beaukudo.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Serprepta are carnivorous. They will hunt and eat anything they can constrict or bite. Even crustaceans are no match for this monster.

Additional Information

Social Structure

They live primarily in solitude but, Serprepta are sociable with one another. They even have a sort of communication system involving a variety of screeches. This language has yet to be deciphered.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Found in the Great lake Gracelyn of the Heindenselm Region.

Average Intelligence

These abominations are deceptively cunning. Even if they tend to live in solidarity and seem to prefer a head on assault, it uses its mobility in surprising ways to confuse its opponent.

Civilization and Culture

History

The Serprepta are a creation birth from the war and has lived in the waters of Terra ever since. It is no surprise that the Lemouille people have had an everlasting feud with these atrocities for centuries. Being the only race with a compatible swimming ability, very little help was afforded to them in order to fend off the mutant invaders. In the current year, the Lemouillites live comfortably within the walls of their cities and villages. Unfortunately, traveling around the great lake Gracelyn (and even walking near its edge at times) can be dangerous and so, caution is advised to all despite the relative peace.
