Raizoc

Flying savages unlike any other. Also known as winged terrors.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Raizocs are burly monsters capable of flying. Sometimes seen as a the Nemesis of the Soarion people, these abominations use their brute physical strength to take down their foes. The Raizoc's head is surprisingly smooth and rounded in the front. The top extends into an array of curved spikes all the way down their neck where it changes into a thin membrane continuing down their back until the tip of their tail. Their lower jaw is begins thin then widens into a pointed edge at the chin. They are capable of opening their mouths incredibly wide revealing their sharp fangs. Their neck is flexible allowing the Raizoc to look all around itself. The Raizoc's torso displays its muscular structure primarily with its large chest. The waist things out only to connect to their powerful thighs. Their legs are double jointed and their feet are thin with only three equally thin and long talons so sharp they cause lacerations should you be unfortunate enough to be attacked. The Raizoc's wings are particularly of note. In many ways they resemble any other bird's wings. The difference lies in their feathers. Much like the rest of the Raizoc's body, even their feathers have a leather-like quality to their texture and toughness. Their feathers are heavier and denser than any normal feather, yet they are flexible and thin enough to allow them to fly. These are called scale feathers and are unique to the Raizoc. As a result of this unique trait, a Raizoc is incapable of fully closing its wings and so, their intimidating silhouette is very reconcilable. Finally, their tail has much more in common with that of a serpent than any bird's tail. It is incredibly thin in width measuring roughly 3 or 4 cm. But, they are rather large in height measuring around 10 to 15 cm. They measure around 50 cm in length and both the top and bottom is covered by a sort of membrane which seems to greatly help them control their movements mid flight.

Biological Traits

The Raizocs are well known for their unsavory habit of grinding or sharpening their talons on stones in order to make them as lethal as possible. Additionally, they will look for the hardest stones to ensure they obtain the best results.

Genetics and Reproduction

Unknown.

Ecology and Habitats

Wild Raizoc are often found near cliffs preferring to live in highly elevated areas much like their Soarion counterparts. They live in shallow caves where they make their nests which are easily identifiable by scratch mark that adorn the cave walls. Raizoc have been observed inhabiting a cave in groups of 2 or 3.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Raizoc are carnivores. They will catch just about anything that moves and devour them without a moment's hesitation. This includes other monsters such as Grouchlings. Furthermore, they will eat everything down to the bones. Some believe that they do this primarily to strengthen their fangs.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The unique scale feathers of the Raizocs often fetch a high price. The unique materials allows for fantastic armor crafting with a near perfect blend of protection and flexibility you won't find anywhere else.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Raizoc can be found all over Terra. Most sightings occur in the Atlatoth & Senholdo Regions.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

A Raizoc's eyesight is especially good much like any other bird of prey. Because their wings are unusually thick thanks to their unique scale feathers, they are capable of disturbing the atmosphere in order to create large gusts of winds. The effect is akin to casting wind magic.
