Mount Luna Somnum & Mount Sol Somnum
Geography
The cycle of day and night
In the realm of Terra, days are spent between the light of day and the dark of night. Each period is spent under the guise of two celestial entities. The day overseen by the Sun from Dawn until Dusk and the night is chaperoned by the Moon from Dusk until Dawn.
Two of Terra's most notable landmarks are a pair of great mountains. The tallest in the world. One to the far East and one to the far West. It is largely believed that each mountain serve as the resting place of the Sun and the Moon respectively. During the day, the Sun rises from the East mountain. Travels the sky and sets to the West. This signifies the awakening of the Moon which, in turn, rises from the West Mountain and travels Eastward eventually waking the sun. This back and forth represents the cycle of day and night. The Moon's resting place, beyond the East is called 'Luna Somnum' while its counterpart is called 'Sol Somnum' which is home to the Sun's resting place.
Luna Somnum - Mountain of the moon
Should you ever venture to Luna Somnum, be prepared for the cold. This mountain range is covered in white snow and thick ice. Storms are frequent leaving the sky in a blanket of white where you can't see past your nose. Another belief is that the cold you feel in the night air comes directly from Luna Somnum.
Sol Somnum - Mountain of the Sun
Getting close to Sol Somnum will have you burning up like eggs in a pan. If you had doubts the sun really did sleep on this mountain range, the suffocating heat alone would be enough to convince you. The earth is bare and red with strange and unique rivers flowing with fire. Yet another reason to believe this to be the home of the sun which brings warmth during the day.
