Ascended Beings - The Kaleidoscope of History
It was a place in a future where the planet was dying. A city that was one of the few refuges left for humanity. A man looking for a new life in such a dreaded wasteland. He was one of the blessed capable of using ascension powers though they were dormant and he knew nothing about it. The man was waiting in line at the makeshift quartermaster's desk, it was placed inside an abandoned skyscraper that was repurposed for handing out job postings and registration. It was not long before he was next to be served. This man was from a line of fishermen and asked for a license to fish even though it was a dying trade in times such as this. The quartermaster shrugged his shoulders and wrote up an issued license for fishing. The man gave the quartermaster his information as he finished his registration. He was given a satchel of goods that was tied in a nice package inside a woollen blanket. The quartermaster thanked him for his time and the man paid him fairly in coin and ration tickets.
The man picked up his new found belongings and headed off into the building. The section of wall behind the quartermaster was ripped open and was exposed to the outside. There was a make shift railing to help prevent anyone from falling. The weather had become temperate and warm due to the drastic change from the last war of resources, which continued to rage on, but not in this place. Where people organized their own enclave and created a somewhat stable commune. The view from the opening was spectacular and the breeze made it comfortable. The man continued on heading out into the city. Passing by a market he was asked to help set up a lunch room for the orphans and refugees. He agreed to help and was promised a meal for his efforts. It did not take long as there was several volunteers helping out. He sat at a table in the front of the lunch room and looked through his pack. It contained some basic materials required for survival in this wasteland such as some antibiotics, clothing, and a water skin. There was also a small switchblade for protection and for preparing any survival need such as gutting or carving.
The free meal was not fancy and only consisted of a chilli and bread with a bottle of water to fill the belly and quench the thirst. The man soon finished his meal and packed up his things and moved on looking for a place to stay for a while and sleep if need be. After some time of wandering the streets he came upon a run down building only a few storeys high. The place was housing a small group of about 30-40 people. There was a mix matched kitchen on the main floor and several rooms in the above floors. On the second floor there was a cleared space that became a gym with no more than a small weight bench and some rattled practice dummies. The man checked in at the counter and asked for a room. He asked if there was a limit to how long he had to stay in case it was only temporary. The clerk replied saying it did not matter as long as you pulled your weight when needed or asked. Also there was one requirement which was attend a fitness class to keep a position as a permanent resident. The man agreed and offered the last of his coin to the clerk to reserve a room with. In moments the man had become registered as a permanent resident and was given the schedule for the fitness class.
Heading up the stairs to the 4th floor into the 8th room at the back of the building. There was no keys as most rooms were shared equally and only locked from the inside. The man knocked on the door and turned the doorknob opening the door to an empty room with 2 small cots placed at the back of the room on opposite sides of the room. The man took the cot on the left and placed his items at the top of the bed. He laid down and soon fell into sleep dreaming of days gone by and of days to come...

Return of the Past
Have you ever wondered where we are?
A place between light, where time slips away
The only signs are seen in grey, showing life eternally.
The days are shown through yesterday's light
Leaving hope and eternal strife, through fading skies
We've been shown through tales of the past
Look to the stars as our journey begins
The return of the past saves our light
Showing us truth and giving us life
We only need time to give us place
To sing with stars and behold our lives

Kaleidoscope
The deafening silence was of white noise
It brought both light and matter closer...
Closer than ever before it was not by choice
This utterance of sound that comes and goes
It brings life meaning that none would ever see
It was no coincidence that even silence flows
Peering through the kaleidoscope in twilight
Seeing the blend of colours putting on the robe
There is more to us this never ending dark night
Showing its clarity even in dying moments of hope
As we pass through glories of ever weaning peace
We come to understand something in the deafening
The kaleidoscope shows us what we all should taste
This everlasting silence that we all must share fate
Holding on so dearly that we must never release
We come to feel or see that our light never fades
Peering at the hourglass our sights are in focus
Holding on so dearly for an ever gotten frenzy
Our eyes filled with blindness only viewing solace
The twisting darkness pulls us into long lost envy
