The Inspector has existed for an unknown amount of time, and may be the same person or a succession of of people.
Always, however, the Inspector has remained loyal to one thing, and one thing alone, the City of Brimstone.
Anything the Inspector does is for the Greater Good of the City. If a sacrifice must be made, it will be, no one is indepsensible, much less the Inspector themselves.
No cult, no power hungry guildmaster, no upstart mage without a thought for their actions will be allowed to threaten the city's survival. The City WILL survive.
The Inspector of late has ruled The Inspectorate with an iron fist, and has been pushing around the guilds and gangs alike with little concern for their ire. Tensions are rising and something will have to give but it is hardly likely to be the Inspector...
