Brimstone Character Backgrounds

An addition to the base backgrounds, you may choose one of these.
 

A Citizen of Brimstone

An everyday citizen of Brimstone, you are a mage who has lived here all your life or has fled the persecution rife in the North-Eastern Kingdoms. You work in one of the businesses in the city and make a decent income.
  If you are a lifelong citizen you get +1 on Charisma checks, if you are a refugee you may choose a unique piece of equipment.
 

A Guild Craftsmen

You are a Craftsmage for one of the Guilds in Brimstone. You might work in the Powder production or in one of the other specialties of the guild. You make a lot of money in this job but you could make more if you sold your Guild’s secrets, but watch out both the Guild Officers and the Inspectorate watch out for such ventures.
  You start out with extra money. You may choose a crafting skill.
 

An Exiled Blessed

You are an exiled Blessed, once a mage of high standing in the Andaran Empire but personal morals or political intrigue have forced you to flee the country, likely never to return. You heard of Brimstone from a mage fleeing the Rhodanian Communes. You brought with you a sizable fortune to get you settled. But ever since you came to Brimstone, you can’t quite shake the feeling you’re being watched.
  You get an extra 10 Gold if you choose this background.
 

A Grey League Operative

You are an “everyday” citizen of Brimstone, a mage who has lived here all your life or “fled” the persecution rife in the Orlessian Kingdoms. You “work” in one of the businesses in the city, in a particular dark corner of it, and despite the watchful eyes of the Inspectorate, carry out your “business” without too much trouble. You are a member of one of the Black Alley Gangs. You make a fair amount of money with your “business”. But you can’t shake the feeling you’ve seen that street urchin on your corner just a bit too often, don’t they have somewhere else to beg?
  You may choose one illegal item to smuggle into the city, +1 on dex rolls.
 

An Inspectorate Agent

You are an “everyday” citizen of Brimstone, a mage who has lived here all your life, perhaps an orphan or perhaps they just liked what they saw but you are part of the Inspectorate now. You’ve met the Inspector once or twice but didn’t know them too well. You watch from the shadows while doing your job in one of the businesses of the city, maybe even a member of a Guild, and make a decent income, though there are ...perks to being in the Inspectorate, if you ever need help, showing that tattoo you’ve got just might get you something others will miss. The Gatehouses are where your superiors work and if you are ever in a pinch you may try to visit them. Remember, the Inspector Watches, though this time maybe from the afterlife. Keep an eye on your “allies” and find the killer to avenge the Inspector! Synchronize your Watches!
  You can identify other agents of the inspectorate and have a +1 on perception checks.
