Spindle
The most common Stenza spindle is a bottom-whorl spindle. Most shafts are made out of bone, although wood shafts are not uncommon (usually manufactured in cases of a larger-than-average spinning workload). Stone whorls are far and away the most common, due to their weight. Most thread that Stenza produce will be woven into cloth, so ensuring that it can stand up to the stress of the loom weights and back and forth passes of the shuttle is critical. (Occasionally, metal whorls make an appearance, although as with arrow points, these are very uncommon due to cultural attitudes around mining and the use of metal.)
Manufacturing process
Spindles are carved out of slender bones or sticks with small knives, of the type that most people would have on hand for various different purposes (often the manufacture of spindles among them). This knife, or a separate tool entirely, can be used to bore the necessary holes and grooves into the spindle to render it functional.
Hahaha I can definitely see Pups taking spindles to play with or to hide. That gave me a laugh. I really like that they are normally carved from bone, but wood ones will do in a pinch. :)

Pups see a thing and go "mine now", and look so adorable while absconding with it. And always be ready to carve one if you left yours at home :D
