The Ether
Manifestation
The Ether is a separate plane of reality; it mirrors the material plane almost perfectly, but no living creatures reside in it. Nobody is sure why it exists; some believe it is a filter for the Barrier's magic, so the material plane isn't destroyed by its sheer magical energy. Some believe it is some sort of reverberation of the Barrier's magical energy on the material plane, like an echo.
The Ether is the key in most earth magic. It is most often used as an invisible storage locker in magical societies. It is only used for nonliving items, as transporting a living being with earth magic has never worked favorably. There is very little oxygen in the Ether either, so even if a living creature made it there in one piece, it wouldn't last long.
Localization
The Ether doesn't exist in dead magic zones.
