Goblin
"The Dwarves have the Stone. The Elves have the Stars. We have nothing but the strength in our arms and the steel in our hands. The Gods did not die, child. They just stopped looking at us. So we must become so sharp, so bright, and so strong that they have no choice but to look down again."
Origins: The Great Quiet
Goblin theology is defined by absence.
- The Abandonment: Goblins believe that eons ago, their Creator God walked among them. Then, for reasons lost to time (a sin committed? a war lost?), the Creator turned their back and left the Material Plane.
- The Divine Silence: Unlike Clerics of other races who receive miracles, Goblin history is marked by a total lack of divine intervention. No manna fell from heaven; no angels saved them from the flood.
Cultural Values: The Ascendant Path
Because they are physically small and biologically short-lived, Goblins value Skill and Discipline over raw power.
- Martial Perfection: Goblins are duelists. They obsess over the arts of war, fencing, archery, tactics. A Goblin doesn't steal a sword to sell it; they steal it to practice with it.
- The Meritocracy (The Strongest Rules): Their hierarchy is rigid but fair. The leader (The Boss) is the one who can defeat all challengers. This isn't about bullying; it's about survival. If the leader is weak, the tribe dies. If you cannot defend the tribe, you step down.
- "Trash" is Potential: Because they have no divine gifts or rich lands, Goblins are masters of Upcycling. They turn scrap metal into masterwork blades. They see potential in things (and people) others have thrown away.
Common Names
Goblin names are short, sharp, and often sound like the striking of metal or the snapping of a twig.Names: Gash, Tok, Rix, Vekk, Shim, Kutz, Zot.
Titles (Used more often than surnames): The Sharp, Iron-Tooth, Quick-Step, God-Seeker.
Other Info:
Gender & The Warrior:Goblin society does not care about gender. A female Goblin is expected to be just as lethal as a male. In fact, because female Goblins often have to defend the nurseries while the males hunt/patrol, they are frequently revered as the "Last Line of Defense", the most vicious fighters in the clan.
Short-Stature Mechanics:
In combat and architecture, Goblins use their size. They don't build "cramped" tunnels; they build "defensible" tunnels where tall races cannot swing broadswords.
