Souls Campaign Session 8

Session 8: 07-08-2025

The party decides to rest for a night before entering the portal into the Feywild. They setup a watch and a light snowfall started but there was no incident during the night.

Saruske notices that the poop he threw into the portal has changed into stone. He leaves another dump outside so he can compare later if there was some time dilation. The sun inside the portal doesn't seem to have set at all during their time here.

They notice that there are a lot of tracks leading into the portal including two sets of large rectangular feet like those on the mechanical warsuit. They estimate there are between 15 and 20 humanoids that have gone inside.

Inside the Feywild the weather is mild and warm. There's a path made from old gravel leading through a forest with a brilliantly coloured flowers and strange plants. Chiki notices that some of the plants seem to move on their own and some flowers are glowing with an inner light.

Saruske takes the time to climb a tree and looks out across the land. He sees the gates to the carnival are nearby but there seems to be a large burnt out tree or campfire. In the distance there are many tents setup and he can see a few permanent wooden buildings. He hears gunfire in the distance.

They decide to charge forward and try to stop whatever is going on and save the people. Ghost and Saruske dash forward seeing the corpses laying on the ground near the gates. Many of them bloody with gun shots and they seem to wear broken fairy wings made from cloth or paper. They see burnt bones and skulls inside the ashes in the old campfire. Above there are people hung from the entrance gate and in the center is a severed unicorn head.

Both of them keep running but they trigger an explosion and are almost flung aside but manage to dodge away with Saruske using the shadows and appearing in a tree. He looks out and sees a house nearby with a figure inside that quickly closes the shutters on the window. They wait for Chiki and Ozzie to come up and approach the house cautiously.

Suddenly a shot rings out and Ghost comes under fire! They scramble around with Ozzy casting his deadly thorns inside of the room as more gunfire sounds out from inside the building. One of the soldiers charges out but quickly succumbs in a hail of kunai from Ghost. The other keeps firing from the inside but is taken down by magic and kunais. Saruske jumps into the shadow of the chimney and pops out on top just in time to see the Witchhunter teleport outside, grin at him and execute the sharpshooter outside.

The others run around and confront the changeling Ozzy recognizes as Mae'lis and starts questioning them. The emotionless exterior of the Fey creature doesn't reveal anything and they makes some promises of helping them and directs them to meet with one of the Hags to get support from the other realms. They explains that the Archfey Zybilna has been trapped and cannot expel these invaders and the Hags are now the only Fey powers left that can resist them. The two ringmasters of the Carnival, Mr Witch and Mr Light, have already been captured and held in the large tent with at least another 8 soldiers inside.

Saruske takes Ozzy aside and tell him not to trust it. Something more is going on here and they sent them on their way asking it to kill any stragglers. However Saruske starts following it and sees it curves around the forest heading to the tent.

Deciding time is of the essence they immediately set off to the big tent with Ghost going inside Invisibly with Mr Hoot sitting on top of the tent giving him a view of the inside with ring of sand where two large cages filled with people have been set. In the middle is a large grey Elf on the ground covered in cuts and bruises.

He tries to sneak inside but the large Witchhunter in the center points at him and shouts for the other to get them. He sents out one of the soldiers to get the others. A fight breaks out with the other cutting a hole in canvas tent the other head inside. A stun grenade goes out and stuns Chiki and Ozzy. The large heavily armored Witchhunter comes out wielding a flame thrower and yells out "Burn them all!" and starts laughing maniacally as flame blasts out of his device and burns the party. Ozzy's beard burns off leaving a scar on his neck and he passes out from the pain later to be healed and brought back by Chiki.

The situation quickly turns grim as this dangerous warrior cuts through them and slashes Saruske until he falls backwards. Standing over him he buries his sword in his stomach about to twist and take his life Chiki manages to cast a healing spell giving Ghost enough time to drag him away into the tent. The mortal wound however has taken a toll on Saruske.

Ozzy yells out for the others to run and he goes into the tent to find Mr Light. He makes it with a combination of his Fey magics and crawling on the ground makes it to the cages and asks for Mr Light but the people are desperate and crying for him to let them out. Making his way over to the slumped over Mr Witch he asks for Light but he says he was already killed.

Now hearing the heavy stomps from the Warsuits and the cries of approaching soldiers the situation turns dire. Now all inside the tent Mr Witch tells Ozzie to get his watch from the hiding place in his boot. He quickly activates it and sees time slowing down. The other creatures in the tent seem to move at slow-motion. The tent starts folding in on itself and all the lights are extinguished. Suddenly everything and everyone is being pulled to the center of the ring crushed together they find themselves in a wooden cart with a horse whinnying outside. Feeling themselves being moved up into the sky.
