Souls Campaign Session 7 Report

Session 7: 11-07-2025

The party sets out from the cave after killing the hag to the Feywild portal. Traveling to the south next to the mountain range on a clear sunny day.

Halfway through the day Mr Hoot comes back from scouting and alerts Ghost that there is something up ahead. Saruske sneaks forward hugging the mountain side and messages back to the party that there is nothing and they should move up. Ghost joins him and momentarily sees something strange floating in the air. The other look up and see the same and they start going forward with caution.

After an hour they hear an engine startup and see the zeppelin of the Witchhunters fly out and turning to head southward. The party runs to the rocks to hide and Ozzy casts a spell to conceal them in thick fog.

They wait an hour and Ghost sees the zeppelin fly off to the south until its only speck on the horizon. Stealthily moving closer with magical assistance they see the mountain range bends westward revealing a small valley. Sneaking closer they see six tents arranged around a campfire with 4 men with muskets lounging around. Chiki sees another man just around a tent and an inactive large robot.

Ghost and Saruske sneak closer to the tents to prepare to attack but Syl jumps off excitedly with his daggers drawn. Ghost uses his magic to slice through the air and badly injures two of soldiers. Saruske moves through the shadows via magic and appears behind the heavily armored soldier to attack him with his fists. Ozzy conjures a field of barbs and thorns to cut and bleeds everyone who moves while Chiki casts a spell that destroys the center of the camp in a loud bang that kills the three remaining soldiers.

Syl charges forward but in his mad dash through the thorns he is cut and loses an eye. Laying on the ground bleeding Mr Hoot tries to pick him up and drop him off at Chiki for healing but his tiny body is slick with blood and he drops to the ground laying still. Chiki distressed tries to heal him but no avail and picks up his body and lays it in one of the tents.

The pilot of the robot cuts his way through the back of the tent, runs to the robot and climbs in. It starts up with a loud roar of its engine and starts billowing smoke from its exhausts.

Saruske drags the heavily armored soldier to the center of the field of thorns and escapes through the shadows with some cuts. Leaving the soldier badly injured Ozzy taunts him and he runs after him badly hurt with his hand shaking he fires shots from all of the chambers of his pistol missing all but one. However this hit fuels Ozzy's magical power and he returns a blast of fire that cooks the inside of the soldiers skull dropping him dead.

The robot turns to Ghost and Saruske and it's rotary gun spins up firing a hail of bullets but they manage to dodge out of the way taking only a part of the damage. It charges forward to Saruske but he dodges out of the way and it crashes through one of the tents. They attack it relentlessly with Chiki firing his lighting cannon at it. It gets heavily damaged and starts to shake violently. Suddenly the backs slides open and pilots get ejected violently landing prone nearby.

The robot shakes and shakes until the boiler ruptures and the machine blows up in a ball of fire. Chiki's homunculus gets caught in the blast with Ghost trying to push him out of the way. Both are somewhat singed but most of the blast was directed away from them.

Saruske ties up the pilot and wanders off to rip off the heads of some of the fallen soldiers in anger. Ozzy charms the pilot to get all the information on the Witchhunter force and their zeppeling. Learning that the zeppelin can hold up to 60 men and usually holds 30. Some of the soldiers have moved into the portal and they were posted here to guard the portal. He did have their description from the Witchhunters to look out for.
