Irradiated

When a creature is exposed to an intense flare of radiation or prolonged exposure. They start to glow softly in the dark and take extra damage from Radiation type damage as described by the source of the damage. There are three levels of Irradiated.

  • Level 1 - An irradiated creature glows bright light in a 5 ft. Radius-Sphere and dim light in a 10 ft. Radius-Sphere. It has Disadvantage on Stealth Checks and they take extra damage from Radiation sources as described by the weapon, gadget, bomb or spell.
  • Level 2 - The creature is affected by level 1 of Irradiate and additionally suffers from vomited, hair loss and burns on the skin. The creature makes all Ability Checks with Disadvantage, becomes vulnerable to Poison and automatically fails Constitution Saving Throws.
  • Level 3 - The creature is affected by level 1 and 2 of Irradiate and additionally suffers from extreme fatigue, neurological damage and is close to death. When the creature makes Death Saving Throws only a Natural 20 is counted as a success and a Natural One instantly kills them, it becomes vulnerable to all damage types and makes all Saving Throws at Disadvantage.

Causes

  • Radium Ore -prolonged exposure to Radium leads to the Irradiated condition.
  • Radium Weapons - Advanced Radium based weapons can focus radiation to instantaneously inflict the condition.
  • Irradiate spells - Arcanotech spells can inflict the Irradiate condition.

Symptoms

  • Nausea and vomiting: Often the first signs, starting within minutes to hours after exposure.
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Fever
  • Fatigue or weakness
  • Skin redness or burns (if exposed to external radiation)

Treatment

Medic - Purge Ailment can remove a level of the Irradiated condition.   Magic - Lesser Restoration, Greater Restoration and Heal can remove levels of the Irradiated condition.

Prevention

  • Lead - lead lining can block Radiation from affecting you.
  • Iodine drugs - use anti-radiation drugs to prevent the condition from affecting you.
  • Spells - certain spells can give you protection.
