Ice Fang Clan
Nestled in the frozen wastes of the Ice Floats, the easternmost clan hold of the Confederacy of Vec endures the harshest conditions of the frozen island and the Ice Float strait. It is an unforgiving land that forges the fiercest warriors and culls the weak.
The chieftain’s power is not inherited by blood alone, but earned through the backing of the noble families of the region. Tradition dictates that the seat of chieftain belongs to the most formidable raider, the strongest warrior, or the one who has brought the greatest wealth to the clan. More often than not, this honor falls to the noble house of Jormander, whose name is whispered with both reverence and fear.
Society is stratified, each tier bound by duty and survival:
The Nobles - They rule with iron will and martial might, their soldiers enforcing order and their influence shaping the fate of the clan. Their word is law, and their strength is the shield that guards the hold.
The Warriors - These are the raiders, the ones who brave the icy straits and the southern seas to plunder the lands of plenty. They return with treasure, thralls, and tales of glory or not at all.
The Merchants - A wealthy middle class thrives on the trade of fur, scrimshaw, and ivory, bartering with distant lands for goods the frozen north cannot provide. Their wealth grants them influence, though never true power.
The Civilians - Hunters, trappers, and fishers form the backbone of the clan. Their labor feeds the hold, their skills keep the people alive through the long, brutal winters.
The Thralls - Captured people from raided lands, used for menial labour and held captive until they pay the Blood Price. Here, survival is not a right, it is a battle waged daily against the cold, the sea, and the ever-looming threat of the Kingdom of Therassia, their mortal enemies to the south. The clan’s existence is a testament to resilience, and its warriors are the blade that keeps the enemy at bay.
