Frontier Session 11 Report

Session 11: 17-11-2024

Glee and Hiron are packing up their gear after trying to break into the large metal door. However they discover that two creatures are sneaking up on them and have killed their guide. Hiron keeps both himself and Glee standing during the fight with his emergency medical protocols while Glee dispatches the creatures with his powered suit.

After the fight, the door steel door mysteriously opens and a large creature walks out. On inspection it seems to be similar to the robot they saw in the chamber with the lava pool and forging equipment. It moves towards the body of the dead drone and picks it up. Meanwhile the two party members move into the room and wait until the robot finishes. It closes the door and locks everyone inside.

Later in the day Suicu and Jock arrive at the Orc encampment and meet Brakk at the Chieftain's tent. They go inside and explain the situation to the Chieftain Urthogur. The Orks did not know these creatures were intelligent nor did they realise they were stomping on their breeding grounds.

Jock still hallucinating from his mushroom drink accidently provokes the Chieftain into a fight. Both start fighting barehanded and in a rage and many blows are exchanged until Jock manages to knock him out with a headbutt. He does calm down and waits until the Chieftain regains consciousness. He is proclaimed Champion of his Clan and an excellent fighter.

Meanwhile Glee and Hiron have rested a bit and have started investigating the room. They find 3 strange vats filled with the green liquid they found earlier that appears to be some kind of preservation liquid. In one of the vats the robot has deposited the freshly killed bodies of the Thri-Kreen from the hallway and in another there is a strange humanoid body. Hiron identifies this creature as a Yuan-Ti, a magically corrupted humanoid that has some features of a snake.

In the back of the room there is a cognitator computer which strangly seems to display a command line in Common that says 'INPUT COMMAND:'. Hiron investigates it and figures out the way to operate it. He opens the door and spends time reading the log files in the system.

The logs mostly contain maintenance orders and indicate this room is a maintenance station for Necromechs. The date notation is odd on these logs "21-ZER-3042" shows up as the most recent log but according to our calendar its the year 412. Something else the log mentions is the Illium Magocracy and an Artificer with a speciality in Necromantic magic was sent to help improve the Necromechs and there's an entry "...the capture of Zehir has empowered the Illium Magocracy." There are also some details in the logs about the robots and they use corpses to control the mechanical parts.

Glee investigates the robot and confirms it's the same robot as they found in the chamber with the lava pool. The strange green liquid seems to be pumped into it's organic components. The mechanical parts are all old, bulky and clunky unlike his own agile clockwork powered suit.

After they're done investigating they're picked up by another Drone that leads them to an area where they can rest until the other party members return. In the morning Suicu and Jock return from talking to the Chieftain.
