Crafting
You can craft potions, items, weapons and armor with the following rules. To craft an item you need the following:
- Recipe or Schematic for the item
- The correct tools or supplies
- The components
Recipes
In order to get a recipe you can reverse engineer an item using the table for crafting checks to break it down and learn the recipe. The item is lost when acquiring the recipe in this way. You can also buy or find recipes or schematics out in the world. Artificers and Inventors are able to research recipes and schematics on their own through crafting checks.
Harvesting
Harvesting components from dead monsters can be done after combat ends. When out in the wild you can find natural resources to harvest or buy them from vendors.
Component Limitation - A single monster can yield multiple components, but each party member can only harvest one component per 10-minute interval. Some components can lose their potency if left too long. For huge or larger monsters it will take 30-minutes per component although 2 characters can work together to reduce it to 10-minutes.
Tool Proficiency - Certain components may require specific tools or proficiency to harvest effectively. For example, extracting a rare gemstone might require a proficiency in mining or a specialized tool.
Environmental Factors - The environment in which the combat took place can affect the harvesting process. For instance, harsh weather conditions or dangerous terrain might make harvesting more challenging.
Preserving components
Chemical - using a preservative like formaldehyde.Magical - using spells like Gentle Repose
Smoke - smoking a component inside a chamber. Needs to be left overnight and smoke can escape the chamber to reveal the camp location.
Drying - Leaving a component out to dry. Needs to be left overnight and in some cases can attract animals and beasts.
Curing - Leaving a component out to dry with a curing agent like salt. Needs to be left overnight and in some cases can attract animals and beasts.
Freezing - Freezing components can temporarily preserve them. Some components are required to be kept at low temperatures.
