Black powder
Black powder, also known as gunpowder, is a mixture of sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate (saltpeter). It was the first chemical explosive and propellant. Historically, it has been used in firearms, artillery, rocketry, and fireworks. Black powder burns rapidly, producing a large volume of hot gas, which can be used to propel projectiles or create explosive effects. It is relatively stable and requires an ignition source to combust.

Discovery
Discovered in the deep mines under Vulgnor's Range by the Deep Gnomes of Glimmerdeep. Some of the engineers were experimenting with different substances to produce smokeless fire but by accident discovered an exploding powder by mixing bat droppings, charcoal and sulfur.
