Bloodlings

Formed during the war between dracomages and formerly Empties, the Bloodlings (choosing their name in honor of those killed before them as well as their desire to see bloodshed of those who oppressed them) believed everyone born with magic deserved to keep their connection to it, regardless of being chosen by dragons or not. Those who sided with the Bloodlings were all inflicted with Madness (named TBD) that came from being infused with raw arcane energy, gaining the connection to the Inbetween at the high cost of their sanity and humanity.
Unfortunately, the Madness was not always immediately recognizable and those who discovered it post-infusion, desperately looked for a cure whilst hiding the symptoms. One such person was a prominent figurehead of the Bloodlings <name TBD> who suddenly desired diplomatic peace between AS and Bloodlings, which was naively granted shortly after the War. He worked closely with their researchers, taking what he'd learned to his private study and perform dozens upon dozens of experiments upon himself in an attempt to restore himself while maintaining his powers. Eventually his experiments became more unhinged, more dangerous, and he began kidnapping the most deranged of his faction to be used instead. As he descended further into Madness, his conclusion boiled down to: the Arcanum Society must have known how to avoid the Madness and only shared it with those they deemed worthy. And they allowed, knowingly, the rest of those who wished to have power to undergo the infusion without any warning. With this in mind, he shared his belief with the rest of his faction who trusted him, looked up to him, and believed him entirely. They waged war against the Arcanum Society, which ultimately their unpredictability and disproportional warfare lead to them driving out the AS but not before they repaired the rift, cutting off any new cultist's chance of gaining powers. The Bloodlings gave chase, following them North into the desert but could not penetrate the shield that the mages put in place. Seething with rage and frustration, they chose instead to ransack nearby villages of innocents, certain they had some hand to play in helping the AS escape so thoroughly. <more incoming>
