The Uppergrowth

High above the realm of Moorod, tangled together in a massive structure or roots and branches, lies the somewhat mysterious and protected region known as the Uppergrowth. This collection of millennia old trees and roots lie on the "roof" of the Room, obscuring the very top from view, revealing only a massive web of leaves, giant roots that bind together, and great patches of greenery seen no where else in the war-torn land. Secluded and protected by the sesper, the Uppergrowth has been tended and grown by them for as long as any can remember, as sign of peace within the claustrophobic walls of the Room. While the sesper live peaceful lives, attending to their needs and the needs of others, they remain a powerful force, one that should not be tampered with. Yet as war once again looms, the agents of Nephinal seek to strengthen their bonds, and the sesper will be forced to choose a side, or else all of Moorod will burn before an even greater threat.

Geography

The Uppergrowth is a great patchwork of roots, that act as both trees and branches. These great roots have been grown and tended to by the sesper, over many centuries, forming an overlapping web-like patchwork of roots and branches, that reside over the entirety of the roof of the Room. These roots are crafted into shapes that acts as the homes for the residents, and grow downwards to the misty Shroud, where they receive their vital supply of water.   The outer layer of roots and outstretched branches and leaves shield many prying eyes from the inner layers of the Uppergrowth. These roots also stick out their smallest tendrils during the night, to absorb water moisture from the air. The layer behind these is a great collection of tunnels and domes made by careful growth of the plants in the Uppergrowth. Some outside pods are also grown, to hold the sesper, whose four strong tails give them sure footing over the tangled floors, even allowing them to perch upside down!

Fauna & Flora

The natural plants of the Uppergrowth are unique in the Room, capable of rapid growth, and acting as both the roots, grass, branches, leaves, of a tree. This unique flora is called Teseer serepse, otherwise known as Upperroot trees. The Teseer serepse, is unique, as it acts as one great organism, and envelops the entire Uppergrowth. The collective "roots" of the Uppergrowth are all connected, bonded through a special neuro-interface connection, and acting as one giant tree, essentially. Individual roots and seeds may grow branch off from the main roots, but these remain connected to the single organism, called the Sess'sothor by the Sesper.   The Sess'sothor's roots grow and are tended by the Sesper, slowly expanding downward and weaving a greater web of leaves and branches. The "roots" appear as such, but also grow branches and leaves, that collect the light from the Sol, absorbing light and converting it into energy. These leaves also bear fruit, and the sesper have learned that certain stems of the plants produce certain fruits. The roots also grow very quickly, depending on age. Small little stems may grow over an inch in three days, but the bigger the root, the slower it grows. Unless the sesper use their magic to shift or rapidly develop the trees, in which case instantly huge masses of roots and leaves may appear. The leaves also are able to generate small amounts of light and warmth, keeping the sesper warm and safe in their peaceful abode.   The Teseer serepse, can also produce seeds, but any planted seed that grows to be connected to the Sess'sothor becomes a part of that organism.   As for fauna, their is none, save for a few birds and insects that naturally roam, and a few special types of snakes that are able to grow to great lengths and slither among the forested web.

Natural Resources

The Uppergrowth provides some of the most crucial resources in the Room. It is the only place known to produce fruits, and thus provides the importance foods to the nations of the Room. The sesper give their surplus willingly, hoping to ensure peace, and give to the other nations. Yet it is forbidden to cut down their sacred woods, and woe to any who dare try (see the Tree War).   Yet the Nephinal make greater use of the seeds of the Uppergrowth, gifts given to them due to their good relations with the sesper. With these important seeds, and some of the druidic magic of the sesper, they are able to grow great plots of trees for wood, and also weave giant roots on the walls to build their "wall-villages" upon. The natural strength of the plants helps to ensure that these settlements are secure to the stony walls of the Room.
