The Kingdom of Mig
Notorious and famous across all of Moorod, the mighty army and soldiers of both the nation and region of Mig send terror and fear into all the people of Moorod. Among all of the peoples of the Room, perhaps the Miganese are the most stubborn, completely loyal to their nation, and grimly determined to survive on top. By the force of their arms and the might of their great fortresses, Mig has crushed foes great and small, marked by their endless wars over resources against their ageless rival, Nephinal. Once again, Mig sharpens its swords and grinds their spears for the upcoming conflict against Nephinal, but both sides remain unaware to greater and more dangerous forces that threaten all of the Room.
Structure
Mig is ruled by a monarch, a King-General, who commands the army and the nation itself. He is supported by a council of advisers and supervisors, who oversee several different aspects of the nation. The King-General is tasked with commanding and overseeing the army and its training, as well as handling resource management and other facets of the country.
Assets
Mig has access to large quantities of ore and precious minerals, which are mined deep inside their stony land. They are also expert smiths and forgers, builders of large stone walls and monuments, and great fortifications and defenses Compared to other nations, Mig is much poorer, rarely ever engaging in trade, and making no allies of other nations. What they lack for in coin, they make up for military strength and arms, and a series of fortifications upon their fortress-realm, which have termed Mig as "the unbroken", never known to fall by military strength.
History
Like all other things in the Room, the origin of Mig is as foggy as the shroud, a tangled web of myth and fact. What is known, is that after the Black Age, Mig was the first nation to arise, conquering the Titan Fields and the Scour Fields. According to a legend of the Nephinali, Mig might have been the ancient empire that drove them to flee what would later become their chief city, and this might be supported by evidence of the time, but remains unknown.
Mig arose as the major power of its day....for a time. For soon the endless wars over the Titan Fields between Mig and Nephinal were born, and the army of Mig fought the Gliders Corp of the Nephinali, with the Titan Fields shifting between hands, and each nation waxing and waning in strength. This is all that Mig has known for nearly one thousand years, and currently they have suffered many decades of hardship, enforcing a strict rule to survive with the few resources they have. Now, the eyes of the Miganese turn toward the lush fields of the Nephinali, and both side know that a storm is coming once more.
Territories
At the current moment, Mig is in control of its own land, also called Mig, and a few wall-villages near to it. These are their ancient domains, which have never been taken from the Mig by force. They have ruled the Titan Fields and the Scour Fields at different eras and prosperous times, but there constant strife with Nephinal and the rising of vile monsters have lead to the constant loss, reconquering, and constant conflict over these regions.
Military
One of, if not the most, proud facet of Mig is their military, the only true army in all of the Room. While the elven have small bands of armed soldiers and masterful druids and the Nephinal have the tiny but elite Gliders Corp, the Miganese are the only ones to truly possess a true army, one that at its height numbers in the thousands. All young boys dream of serving in the Great Army, composed of battle-hardened soldiers, clad in simple and compact armor and wield sharpened short steel blades, and carrying their mighty round shields, while their battle-priests carry the crest of Mig unto battle, inspiring the troops to fight on. The sight of the entire collective force of the Great Army sends panic and fear into the hearts of the Nephinali.
The military is divided into several different legions, composed of one thousand men. There have been several legions formed and dissolved, depending on the strength of the military. Each legion is then divided into several cohorts, which is formed of one hundred men. Beyond that, it breaks down into smaller and smaller groups, into division, corps, and squad.
The men are chosen or volunteer, and begin extensive training from a young age, gaining in skill and strength, and serving their nations with unflinching loyalty. The Great Army of Mig serves to protect and defend the realm of Mig, defending it from monsters and other enemies, and has acted as the main force and power of Mig, as can be seen in the King-General, the leader of the army and the nation, who must go through rigorous military service before he can lead. The sword is the way of life and survival for the Miganese.
The Great Army follows old military strategies and traditions passed down, but are capable of changing their tactics. They care little for the beautiful arts of the elven, and are practical people, building great war machines of surprising ingenuity. They rely on their large numbers of skilled warriors to overrun enemy forces, and on land are supreme. They build giant catapults and ballistae, and build large stone walls for defense and.
Truly is it said "When the sword of Mig sharpens, the heart of the eagle is shaken"
Technological Level
Mig has some of the best swords and weapons of war, crafted over nearly a millennium, forged to near perfection, and are capable of crude, but impressive, engineering feats, such as massive defensive structures and amazing pulley systems. While lagging significantly behind in science and technology in comparison to the elven and Nephinal, they make up for it in unprecedented valor and strength, and the determination to persevere.
Religion
The Miganese follow a unique religion, similar in some ways to the ideology of the Cycle that the Nephinali follow. Their belief is called the Way, and is essentially a moral code of honor and respect for ancestry, service to country, and the belief in the endless cycles of the Room, along with the belief that their gods reward those who work hard for Mig in the afterlife. The religion of the Way serves more as a motivation and to push the Miganese forward, to never fail their nation, and to survive above all else. It demands harsh work and sacrifice, sometimes the death of one so that others may live, and is cruel and demanding, but the Mig have survived, and even thrived, under its codes for nearly one thousand years.
Foreign Relations
The Miganese have almost no foreign policies, and make no effort to create alliances or peace with other nations. Indeed, the elven are affronted by them, and the sesper have a distrust of them, offering little aid. But to Mig it is no matter, for they boast of not needing any others to help them, and indeed their history has proven this to be true so far.
Agriculture & Industry
The Miganese have little skill compared to the sesper or Nephinali for the sowing and reaping of fruits and crops, but are able to farm enough sections of land to feed the population. Compared to their agricultural center, Mig has a prosperous mining and smith-work industry, as they have access to the most ores and minerals in all of the Room. They forge uncounted swords and weapons and armor everyday, and are expert builders and masons, though they care not for aesthetic. They rarely ever trade, so everything they use is recycled and reused in another manner, and food is strictly rationed out.
Trade & Transport
As the entire nation of Mig is built upon a massive stone foundation, and centuries of building over that, their is little need for transports and instant travel roads. Instead, a small group of messengers and the use of horns carry news and goods around, like gears in a machine, which keep the automation of Mig functional and well supplied. Ore and minerals from the bottom are sent to the top to be processed by the smiths, crops from the top are reaped and processed, and distributed throughout the middle sections where the majority of the populous live.
Education
Children are taught mostly by their parents. learning the craft and skill of their ancestors. The Teacher-Men take the children to be taught during certain hours, telling them of the myths and stories of Mig, and showing them how to serve their nation, along with teaching them other basic skills. The child, depending on different factors, might gain military skill, and join the Great Army. Or they may simply take on the job and trade held by their parents, and raise a family themselves, to continue the endless cycle.
Infrastructure
Having centuries to build and rebuild and then build upon that, the vast fortress that is Mig is one of several layers and sections. Built into and upon Mig (the region/giant stone foundation), Mig is an imposing sight, with a giant wall jutting out and protecting the high flat cliff where endless houses of wood and metal stand, carved into the stone and hanging on the side, and a great flat field on the very top, where crops are grown. Sewers and aqueducts are designed to allow water from the Shroud in to be collected and drained water to be thrown the sides of sewer pipes. They have massive catapults and ballistae, and several layers of defense, such as huge metal plates on the top of their walls to prevent their scaling. Perhaps most impressive of all is the Bridge, which is able to be pulled up in times by massive chains and pulleys, but then the massive steel and stone bridge is dropped, to allow the Great Army to pour forth from the Iron Gates, to invade and conquer the Titan Fields once more.
