Veluthe Al Shee
Veluthe Al Shee (a.k.a. Fairer-Than-A-Fairy)
Fairer-than-a-Fairy, born Veluthe Al Shee, is an Elf of striking beauty with an air of melancholy, her life marked by the whimsy and cruelty of the Fey. Born in the mortal world, her name—a tribute to her beauty—drew the ire of the Queen of Elphame, ruler of the Court of Álfheimr. Taken from her family as a child and brought to the eternal twilight of Álfheimr, Veluthe grew up as a ward of the Queen, her life shaped by fey politics and the Queen's spiteful pride.
Now a woman, Veluthe is the very embodiment of elven grace and beauty, her features so refined they seem almost sculpted by the gods. Her skin glows with a moonlit luminescence, and her hair falls in cascading waves of soft auburn, shimmering faintly like starlight caught in motion. Her eyes, a luminous green flecked with gold, hold a sorrowful depth that betrays the weight of her captivity. She wears garments woven of spider silk and dew, gifts from the fey artisans of Álfheimr, designed to accentuate her otherworldly beauty and to serve as a constant reminder of her role as the Queen's prize.
Though her appearance is stunning, her demeanor is subdued. Veluthe has learned to walk the razor-thin line between defiance and obedience, her survival in the court dependent on her ability to navigate its treacherous social labyrinth. She speaks with a soft, measured tone, her words carefully chosen to neither offend nor betray too much of her inner thoughts. While she is treated with a certain reverence by the court for her beauty, she is also an object of the Queen’s capricious whims, a fact that keeps her in a constant state of vigilance.
Veluthe serves Álfheimr in various ways, her beauty often used to captivate mortals and fey alike during courtly intrigues or diplomatic endeavors. She is also a skilled dancer and singer, talents honed under the Queen's watchful eye, and her performances are said to be as enchanting as the court itself. However, these displays are not always voluntary, and Veluthe dances not for joy, but because she must.
Despite her outward composure, Veluthe longs for the freedom she was denied as a child. She carries with her faint, fragmented memories of the mortal world—of her mother’s face, of sunlight untainted by fey enchantments. These memories sustain her, even as she fears the day they might fade entirely. While she dares not openly oppose the Queen, Veluthe dreams of escape, though she knows the likelihood of such a feat is slim in a land where the Queen’s will shapes reality.
To the Queen of Elphame, Veluthe is a trophy, a living reminder of the Queen’s power to take what she desires. To herself, Veluthe is a prisoner, a woman caught between two worlds, yearning for the one she can no longer truly call home.
